Well I was one of the women who he sat down with & showed me diploma's & certificate's etc...saying he was a board certified plastic surgeon & was trained & did Breast Implants. They had given me so much medicine I couldn't even speak. When all was said & done he stitched my left side up with me bleeding still from where he had knick a blood vessel or something causing that side to capsulize & swell up & it was very painful. I went back to him to show him & he said that it was normal to just wait for the swelling to go down but my other side was fine. Weeks later when I returned he said that he was going to have to go in there & fix it but I had to wait until 6 wk so 3 days before my 6wks when I called to set up the appt they told me he had died!!! Then all the stories of him started rolling in so after we won the law suite I had to pay another Dr to take his out put new ones in & do a lift so I'm very scared thanks to that SOB!!!

Angela, it’s been quite some time, since an actual patient, of “Butcher” Pancake spoke-out, nice hearing from you! Unfortunately and sadly, this does include every single medical-doctor who treated one of his “butchered-patients” too. Those doctors were obligated to stop him, but did nothing but turn their collective-heads over-fear of losing money. Disregarding their oaths, morals and all professional ethics. Selling themselves-out for the “all mighty dollar” over the very patients they committed to heal in the first place, for ten long years!

Since 07 I’ve looked at “Cosmetic-Surgery” or rather “Butchery” related deaths, general medical malpractice, bad behaving doctor’s and posted to this subject matter. After which, I do believe today, our community is very fortunate Pancake didn’t kill a patient.

Again, congratulations to yourself and the others who stood their ground!

I would strongly suggest he was bi-polar. The state of Tennessee used the following words to describe his professional behavior “gross malpractice, repeated malpractice, ignorance, negligence and incompetence” Dr. Pancake failed his medical oath, his friends, patients, his family and most of all himself. In the wake of his life lays a lot of pain for many; his death should serve as a clear reminder for the “hypocrites” still living among us today.

BTW: His "right-hand" guy, at Pancakes "Den of Sin", has been in and out of jail several times now: drug-charges,( hummmm…. wonder what that could be??? LOL), the re-sale of drugs, while also in procession of hand-guns (a felony), domestic violence and 3 DUI's, I think. Along with some other “horrendous-despicable” behavior, he has all the signs of… well let’s just say someone should have stopped Pancake, but no one did a damn thing about it, did they? This one now rides a moped around the East Brainerd area, because he doesn’t have a drivers license! I get a chuckle out of it every time I see him, especially in the rain!

Bruce Pancake did nose surgery on me when i was 13 or so, I'm now 19 and my nose is shitty as hell I have worse breathing than I did as a kid. What could I do because this dead asshole lied to me and my gramdmother with a straight face and permanently tore up a kids nose. My grandmother asked if it helped and we both clearly remember me saying it didn't do anything. Nowadays my nose is worse and not getting any better. I feel sorry for the family of Bruce, but he disrespected me and crossed the line.

I believe, the first order of business, go see a creditable Otolaryngologist –an E.N.T.(ear, nose & throat doc.), who practices that specific specialty, not one that has chosen to be cosmetic QUACK, as Pancake truly was, for a thorough examination of your issue(s). Bruce Pancake, just as several other doctors in this city, was/are pretending to be something they are not! Therefore many patients, family members and others suffer because these type doctors have morally decayed, to the point, they have no ethics left, sheer greed guilds their efforts now, not their oaths!

Find a good-doctor (ENT), there are several around who still care and practice their craft very well, just make damn-certain, whomever you choose, has hospital privileges at one of 3 major hospitals in town, first and foremost! If a board certified ENT does not have hospital privileges, at a major hospital, don’t waste your time! There is, there will be or there has been problems! In fact, if everyone would follow this simple rule, for any surgery need, things would improve dramatically! Pick one that’s a little older, who possibility practiced when Pancake was around too, it’s a very small group, he or she will have a better understanding of your circumstances. Pancake got to town around 1986, fresh out of residency in Virginia, I believe. You see Butcher Pancake got kicked out of all the local hospitals surgical suites in town. So he built his own, that’s why the mess on Gunbarrel road happened. Did he perform your surgery there or was he still hanging on to some hospital privileges?

I assure you, the insurers of hospitals around the country, do the best job of “Tagging” bad doctors too, if a doctors fells to have hospital privileges, a great big red flag should be go up, for the ones who understand it. If an insurer want risk having him in their surgical-suite, why should anyone else? It’s really that simple. Each hospital’s website has their “approved-doctors” list. Be careful too these quacks are very good lying too, I’ve caught several pretending to have privileges and they don’t!

These type quacks move around too, from state to state upon screwing-up, to avoid scrutiny. It eventually catches up to them but it’s a slow-go! That’s why Pancake got away with his butchery for almost 10 years and no-one did a damn thing to stop him! We have similar circumstances in town at this very moment. Each state provides the doctor a “medical- license” to practice. Therefore, 50 state medical boards exist, who try to regulate medical privileges/complaints etc… There are 954,000 doctors, practicing in 24 medical specialties today. This style oversight structure is lethargic at its very best! In Pancakes case all the board did was sweep it under the proverbial rug, after he killed himself, they did NOTHING, nor did ANYONE else, This man was screaming for help!

As a child you were taught to trust the doctor, you simply can’t do this anymore, it’s a sad state of affairs. The doctor must now earn your trust! Go find that doctor and see him!

I just found this topix about pancake. I had breast implants put in by Dr. pancake and he did a terrible job. Not only does it hurt but he didn't put one of the implants in correctly and also rip something under my pec that has never fully recovered. You can visually see that one implant is not right and never has been. I was told by a lawyer I could not sue.. I let it go years ago but from reading this forum looks as if I had a great lawsuit. I only wanted the implants fixed or removed. Dr. Pancake was a bad surgeon and horrible person.

I remember the Vanity Fair article on Dr. Pancake and his wife and daughter. It appeared roughly ten years ago and was about their participation on the child beauty pageant circuit. I seem to remember it came out before the Jon Benet murder. He and his wife seemed really odd and the creep factor was
definitely there. It was the sexualization of a child, his own daughter, and him being a doctor and all, that really turned my stomach.

I know enough to know that all this crap talk about Darin is b.s. I have know him since the 90's; he's not gay, he wasn't having an affair with the deceased doctor. So stop the lies. The person who said they got slapped at the Tortilla Factory for hugging the dr. by Darin is full of it, that's not Darin's personality. Stop lying about him. He didn't butcher anybody.

I was in medical school with Dr. Pancake. Funny thing, several years ago I googled the name of several presumably gay classmates, starting (of course) with Bruce Pancake. What I discovered absolutely blew my mind. It was totally surreal. Everybody back then knew he was likely gay as a goose! Hell, I recall when he was about to live at the medical fraternity house, all the guys swore they'd never use the communal bath facility while he was in it! But of course, with his charming personality, style and good looks, he had practically all of them eating from his hand, before you knew it. So when I saw that he had gone into something surgical, had married a woman and had those beautiful daughters, I was totally shocked. What a tragic life he had.
