Deval Partick's plan is to legislate firearms ownership to the point where it becomes impossible for the average citizen (read:subject) to lawfully own firearms for any reason.

The Gov is more aless making it hard on those who follow the laws, and making life easier on criminals. The purposed increase is going to be shot down.I am going to lead so far over 700 people to individualy sue each member of the house and then combine a single class action law suit againts the govorner and his cabinet for keeping me from my civil right, and have each person do the same to them, then lets see how much work gets done by this state. Thanks Rob

I am Totally against the increase in the gun license fees. This is the same thing they did to the tabacco industry. The politicians try to convince the public it's for their own good. In truth it's just another means or raising taxes. No wonder we are known as Taxacusetts.

It's amazing that every time a new governor needs extra revenue to fund their programs they always resort to raising fees on our Massachusetts Sportsmen.

Instead of raising these discussed fees, Gov. Patrick should discontinue all licensing requirements and fees, and sell at least 29 vehicles of the state financed private fleet for his personal use. I know of at least one Escalade that has "DEVAL.30", but there could be more. That should take care of the ~$3 million dollars he's seeking from the illegal and unconstitutional fee increases.

Ivote no on the Govenors proposal to increase the fee on carrying a gunexcept your views on out of state liscencing. I've been hunting for 28 years and I have to tell you their is a major differance in the number of hunters in the woods. You went from 1.5 mil. in 2006 to 240,000 in 2009.Now you have an over population problem with animals. Coyote's [who attack small children and animals], bear who attaccks anything it wants to and deer that will destroy any bit of vegitation you have. N ot to mention the amount of human fatalities from car accidents.

This is outrageous. Obviously "Devil" Patrick is your typical liberal sore loser. I'm sure he was thrilled at the Supreme Court's ruling on the Second Ammendment recently. I can picture it now, Mr.(not a Gov. in my book) Patrick stewing in his mansion while he has armed security to protect him and his family, all the while he plots with his buddy Barrack "Osama" to get even with gun owners in "his" state. Completely obscene. If you need to raise revenues why don't you double all fees? More people are injured and killed in this state every year by reckless speeders and stop light runners, not to mention drunk drivers. Why not double or triple the fees on these violations? Why double the fees on people who obey the law? Gun owners by and large are some of the most statistically responsible citizens in this country. We have to be, we take responsibility for protecting ourselves and our families with the utmost seriousness - by owning firearms. I almost forgot about the "inspection" part of this legislation they are trying to slip by us. What does that mean? Are the police going to swing by my house every 12 months and demand to "inspect" my firearms? I'm pretty sure I've heard of this before. Is "Devil" feeling nostalgia towards Nazi Germany and how they disarmed their citizens? This guy makes me absolutely ashamed to be from Massachusetts. This state was once the center of patriotism in the time of our forefathers. This is one of the places where the best, bravest and brightest fought for freedom. I wonder what they would think of it now? I think there might be talk of another revolution. I vote to impeach. If you feel similar contact your state rep and don't let this happen.(unless of course you love Communism and hate freedom :)

Absolutely ridiculous!!! This is nothing more than a way for a governor intent on spending every dollar there is to continue to fill the coffers in order to feed his spending appetite. Stop! If they can't win to take away our rights in the courts,(rights guaranteed by the Constitution), they'll make owning the guns so expensive that nobody can afford to license them. And if you don't license them, they'll take them away then. Even if you don't own guns yourself...what's next? Perhaps cars? Watch out, you and your interests WILL be next.

This Governor is interested only in kissing Obama's Muslim feet by discouraging people from having weapons. They both know that people without weapons will be unable to defend themselves against criminals and/or governments. However, if his proposal passes, I think it will reduce the number of gun LICENSES only. The number of gun OWNERS will remain the same or possibly increase, and the monies extorted by the state will drop. I know several people who will not renew their licenses at $200, and they have no intention of turning in any guns. They are already buying more. Please, contact your legislators (who supposedly work for you) and instruct them not to support these sections of the bill.

Patrick is a coward picking on gun owners, the fees are already more than most states. There is no doubt this has to do with the supreme courts decision on the second ammendment. How about not singling gun owners out because he don't like guns.Being prejudice won't get you anywhere

1.Can anybody tell me why the Governor is proposing these increased fees? 2.Jackie Brousseau's ~$3 mil figure was corrected by store owner Dave Stewart. Why did that get edited out. The math doesn't add up and thus the general public was given mis-information. 3.Is the Governor going to put that money to good use....like crime prevention in Spfld, MA...or the Open Pantry? Oh yea, I forgot...he vetoed those. Maybe he should just increase the fees for the guns owners in his part of the state, our part (western mass) doesn't seem to exist for him. Maybe the money will help pay for his fleet of vehicles, or how about his comcast high speed internet? Do any of these people that do this reporting have an LTC? Do any of these people have a clue what we all go through to get that license? And we go through it to protect our own righs. The money, the classes, the finger printing, the FBI check every time we go to buy something. We are all on the up & up. I'd like to know if the people who report these stories and the people who read the articles and mis understand what is really going on here---could they stand up to the testing that we go through? How about the governor himself? No skeletons in his closet? We are not the bad guys, why are we treated that way? Why are we being punished?

The state screwed the cigarette smokers with the $1.00, actually $1.25 with the tax on tax increase. Now it's your turn and guess what? You don't like it. If increased taxes are OK for me, they're OK for you.

Some of us are probably smokers too...double whammy! We're ALL getting screwed in this state together. We all need to speak up and let our legislators know what WE want and don't want, and that we WILL vote them out of office.
