It's not the pet, it is the owner! If you don't know how to work your dog, then choose another breed. Don't put others at risk because of your negligence.

I owned a pitbull breed in the past and he was the sweetest dog ever. He used to play hide and seek with the kids and never did he once bite them - they irritate him and he would get up and walk away. I had to give him away because DSS(involved over an electric bill not paid) didn't think I should own one because I am a single mom of four and said I am putting my kids at risk for pitbulls are killers. I did take precautions like putting him in a cage when I can't watch them play, like when I'm in the shower, just in case. Actually he was more gentle than my little 11 lb pom. that I have now who constantly bites and growls at my kids for no reason. No matter what kind of dog you own, they all have different temperments. People should stop the discrimination of what kind of pet you own and whether or not you can have a pet due to where you live. I live in housing right now and pets are not allowed but they teach kids responsibility and compassion for other creatures for they bring on a different level of emotions in a person showing unconditional love which in return we should show the pets. The pet is not the problem it is the owner. If a bite does happen it should be investigated and found out if the individual owner is the problem for not setting standards for his pet or should the person who got bit be punished for involking the animal.

It is not fair for insurance companies to generalize dog behavior just by their breed! Dogs are not born to attack. This is a learned behavior for survival when provoked or threatened. Who is to say that a Pit Bull is more vicious than a Chihuahua? Should all dogs be banned because they might bite someone?? This is ridiculous and insurance companies should be ashamed of themselves for being so paranoid!!

my comments are about the discriminateing about certain breeds of dogs by the homeowners insurence is right out pathetic so basically its the breeds fault that thiey become vicious absolutely not if you two dog a pit bull which is supposed to be mean and a chiwawha and beat them, make them fight, lock in closets for weeks at a time,i garentee that the both dogs will act the same mean and vicious so its not the breed its the owner,so we should hold the breed responcible for what people are makeing them do in stead of killing the dogs why not just put people in jail for long periods of time, because if we keep eunizing breeds we may not have these beautiful breeds around for much longer.my uncle owns a pitbull two of then actully for about 10years and they have never bit anyone nor showed aggressive behavior toward anyone,so prime example that its the owner not the dog being loyal to his owner.
