I have come to some conclusions,"chbpod" .

This city could care less about most of their citizens.

It is about stealing properties and getting block grant monies(one in the same entity).

It is about controlling every property and every business(in this city).

I see few in charge with any ethics.

The mayor and yourself will get what you want. The businesses will only be what the city allows(it is already happening).

We will all continue sitting back doing nothing.

We have no money for benches or veterans.

We must not waste money on these useless things.

Lets spend thousands of dollars going to court to take whatever properties we want for the good of the community.

Well Bengal-- your "vision" for River St. has been under consideration for several years or more: a Linear park from Holden St. to Brown St.---with (oh yes) benches-----one problem is money--no question-- the other is that part of that (Houghton to Brown) may be part of the bike trail
extension----so that's one reason for waiting----Deep's property (the former Dex Moore) as well as the pool place (I think owned by Rusty Ransford) as well as the car wash are indeed eyesores----especially for the MoCA and Porches crowd----remember the Porches wouldn;t exist if it had not been for a deep pocket entrpreneur who was disgusted looking at the old row houses from the windows of MoCA----if and when the City gets some grant money to develop such a park----then we may have to address the eminent domain issue on those properties---maybe get some private monies as well-----I doubt that it will happen tomorrow-- BUT the idea of a park aling the "water" side of River St. has been under consideration---maybe Bengal is too new to know that----OK? now what are your other "new" ideas????? chbpod
We don't want eyesores for The Porches and The Mass Moca crowd?

When they come for a visit do they spend money anywhere but there?

If we need to do all these improvements,it must be because we are racking in the dough.

You speak of this deep pocketed entrepreneur.

Is it John from Hong Kong "from the article", that ownes The Porches at Mass Moca?

What we really need in this City is a dental plan so that the yammerers could get some teeth---actually I was complimenting Bengal on an idea- that she probably didn;t know was sort of in the works-----but Takecare is a failure--- wants the City to bail him out of his sludge----to call me a "Spammer" belues his anonomity---you and everyone on this board know who I am--- but you are disgruntled-TC inept, chicken and a rather pathetic representative of the city's population-------how many votes did you get for City Council?? did you run??? Were you at the Council meeting Tuesday night- prepared to speak to the Veteran's agenda item??? or speak under Open Forum----TC is just a coward and a sissy-----and dumb as a box of rocks-----chbpod

I was not able to attend your meeting tuesday,"chbpod.

I'm sure you would have treated me with the utmost respect.

I can't wait for the day when I will have the honor of shaking your hand.

Just a question, or two; Is The Porches at Mass Moca a Non-profit Inn? Do they pay taxes to the city?

Your friend "The Deep Pocketed Entrepreneur", would not be the tax-payers of North Adams, would he?

Go for it Bengal, I am willing to give anyone who is not a head nodder a chance. In fact that is what we need, a council with new ideas and who is not afraid to say no and who shows respect for the people they serve.
Thank you, I have long held a desire to help in turning this great city around. I admit, I must first study up more on urban re-development, there is so much potential for River Street alone. River Street is the "passage way to Moca", and if I could come up with some ways to allocate funds for the much needed revitalization, then what I envision could indeed become a reality. I am so happy that something is finally going to materialize for the Mohawk Theatre-its great driving by and seeing the marque (sp) lit up at night. Does anyone remember dollar nights?

One of my last precious moments at the Mohawk Theatre was seeing "Coal Miner's Daughter" with my mom, she passed away a week later. Yes, the Mohawk Theatre is very special to me and again, I am so thrilled that it will soon "shine" again once more.

That wrecking ball should take a visit to Mass Moca as well.
Kiss some of those "things" they try to pass off as art.
If most of that stuff is considered art, then all of River st. is truly, a "masterpiece".
People perceive art in his and her own way, to critisize something that you don't understand is somewhat small minded, one should try to get a sense of what the artist is thinking, you would be amazed if and when you figure it out for yourself.

Our local officials think that "they" can only do their work. They think that becuase they have been in their position for so long, they are the only ones who "know" how to run the city". They think they are superior and they have better judgement than anyone around.

The mayor, the superintendent and some others lie in our faces becuase they live in the false fantasy that we are "uneducated" bums.

The mayor inflates numbers when it comes to budgets, the superintendent fails to provide "complete data" in order to get what they want. For instance, who remembers the " numbers" he recently quoted when announcing the school budget. They were far off reality. Thanks to the people from Bart some truth sometimes come to light. In North Adams and in the Dep. of Education.

So Bengal, go for it, you can prepare, but, just like the ones sitting on the council, you can learn many things along the way. This city is starving for good leadership.

This is already happening, "Bengal".

You have the same dreams as the mayor.

Urban re-development is another fancy word for Eminent Domain.

Grants are readily available.

You have not noticed the free money flying from the sky.

Do you think stealing from others, is all right to fulfill your dreams?

Most of these people will not be paid fair market value for their properties it is easier and cheaper to condemn(we snub most on River St).

Others will become homeless.

Human rights are much more important to me then human greed.

How anyone can destroy "one" to better "themselves" is beyond me.

I'm really not interested in the speech,"We will be doing what is best for the whole community".

Save(the speech) for the ones who will be left with nothing.

I am developing my own thoughts and ideas, myself and so many others share the same dream of how North Adams can become a "City Beautiful" rich in culture and art, but most of all rich in it's own people, they are the ones that make this city. I never once said I agreed with anybody; all I said was I wish to study re-urbanization and perhaps along the way learn from other prospering cities that have had to rekindlethemselves as well. How would you recommend allocating funds for restoration and revitalization? I can not help if my dreams are the same as the mayor's, and yes many of these things are beginning to take shape, but ....

You have your own thoughts of a ,"City Beautiful"?

Doesn't everyone?

Most successful towns and small cities do not need or want to use Eminent Domain to achieve these goals.

You say,"but most of all rich in it's own people".

I say, my city is getting rich off of it's own people."

Part of me truly believes this town wants their citizens to remain in a depressed state.

It is much easier to "control", when your keep others under your thumb.

Start paying attention to the individuals, making the big bucks here. For each and every one of us are donating to their cause.
