I wonder what they were trying to hide... Was the kid unlicensed? Uninsured? Intoxicated? What are they teaching him by their examples?

HaHaHaHaHa, That's rich, do you have the same delusions about "Honest Politicians" and cops? LOL!!!

For the last 15 years or so, I've noticed that the car (or truck) that just passed me doing something incredibly STUPID almost always has a little Fire hat decal on the back. Check it out, you'll see the same thing.

If it was you kid what would you do, you would try to save his but too ! Unfortunately his job is on the line. This guy is a outstanding fireman, How do you think he got all the way up to the top. Pull your heads out , this is all about a young teenager that was in the wrong place at the wrong time.

I understand where you are coming from. But even if the kid was drinkingand driving or simply driving on a restricted license, the outcome would have been better than the guy losing his job. Think about the values he set for the kid. No concequences, maybe if he had hit and killed somebody you would say the guy was wrong to cover up. But if the kid was not given concequenes then maybe next time he is out driving he will.

right. simple. let the kid learn the hard way. as you mentioned, covering it up was the worst idea, especially when the daggum car flipped! i mean, how can you NOT expect any witnesses to that kind of debacle?

Where are the values and parental responsibility? What is particularly disturbing is the profession the father's in, how many horrible accidents has he been called out on for clean-up involving hit & runs due to drinking and/or speeding. I hope there is no "special treatment" given, wrong is wrong and maybe parenting classes would be in order for the parents while the son takes in the Youthful Drunk Driving Visitation Program at the LA Coroners Office. What problems has this kid caused for the owners of the cars that he hit, times are hard enough without some spoiled child damaging property you've worked so hard to have. Throw a BIG book at these parents and their son. As a lifetime resident of San Pedro, I say hats off to the neighbors for calling the police and getting involved and a big thank you!

I wonder if he'll come up with some excuse to sue us taxpayers for his mistakes so that he can retire rich and pay the fines and legal fees?

I have lived in San Pedro my whole life and there is a very real problem with young men and responsibility in this town. Whenever there is a problem as this its "oh well he's a San Pedro Boy" his parents will fix the problem. Well now its going to bite them in the butte. These young men need to take responsibility for the harm they do..Step up to the plate ..And be a man not a cry baby.

I hope that those of you reading this will also think about kids drinking before Prom and about those of you parents who SUPPLY the booze for your kids!! Some of you even give the driver of the limo a couple drinks before he drives off with a car load of your future! We've lost too many young people to drunk driving, drugs and violence. Let's be the ADULTS in this equation and set a good example. Show them that you don't need to be drunk to have a good time.

How can you say he was in the wrong place at the wrong time. He caused this problem and now his parents have covered it up.. All the fathers hard work has gone down the drain. Get your head out of your butte

Doug, With your mentality and should your mentality be contagious with all fire fighters we are in a lot of trouble! This "child" was NOT in the wrong place at the wrong time, he was driving the car, he hit the parked cars and unless there is some circumstance that could follow him...like a record of this event (i.e., drinking, speeding, etc.) why would any responsible parent, particularly holding a position like the father has/had, AND having relatives that hold other community positions as well, and by the way who would NEVER cover up for their 19 yr. old "child's" act of irresponsibility, I don't understand how you can say this kid was in the wrong place at the wrong time! I'm sure Bobby worked hard for his job but this wasn't about Bobby Franco nor his job, or at least up until the attempted cover-up, it's about his 19 yr. old son and let me tell you, having a "child" who did the same thing, he had to sell what was left of his car, jail time, fines and his license was taken away and he is still paying 4 yrs. later. This was not ok on the part of the Franco's and don't tell people to "pull their heads out" and at least before making such a fine statement learn how to spell "butts" and I believe in your first sentence you were attempting to say "If it was YOUR kid." As a fireman please show more respect to the community than this.

So just let your nieghbors know, that when your house is being broken into and they see it,not to call the cops, because you don't like people getting in your business. The kid and his parent broke the law. The nieghbor was right to call the cops.
