Long Beach will start taking its 911 calls

The city of Long Beach is beginning to directly answer wireless 911 calls made within city limits, officials said Wednesday.

I had to call 911 yesterday and was placed on hold for over a minute. It looks like 911/police response times might get worse.

I would apply to work there, but I can't speak Spanish. or Cambodian. or Vietnamese. or Hmong. or Mandarin Chinese. or Samoan. My English is pretty good, though.
