More people watch TMZ than they do CSPAN.
We get the government and society we deserve.
Until we get our priorities straight, look for much of the same.

1 From what I have read, the city used a vendor they have used in the past. The vendor is able to create thousands of meals on short notice. They have the infrastructure in place to do this job. Based on their past performance the officials know they will get the meals done in time. I believe that our officers deserve food that will not make them ill. We have read articles where something has been added to an officers food by a worker with problems. If there is a local vendor who is interested in the business, they should communicate with the city officals. |

I agree with Irene Jensen's letter "Medicare Stalls My Wheelchair" regarding the hoopla surrounding the Michael Jackson funeral "event" whereby hard earned taxpayer moneys were used to provide cops as props to drum up publicity for the purpose of Big Music selling more of Jackson's music.
I would also like to offer Jensen a suggestion regarding her electric wheelchair. Several years ago Big Government enacted the Americans With Disabilities Act. One effect of that Act was to expend untold $Billions of taxpayer moneys to rebuild public buildings so that disabled persons would have access. Further, regulations were devised requiring owners of private buildings of public accommodation to also expend untold $Billions in order to rebuild them in such a manner so as to provide access to persons with disabilities. The ostensible purpose was to enable gainful employment for those with disabilities so that they might not need to depend on the overburdened taxpayer for their sustenance. Despite the apparent delay, Big Government will likely provide Jensen another electric wheelchair. So as to prevent this inconvenience in the future, I suggest Jensen avail herself of the public accommodation provisions of the ADA in order to engage in productive employment. That way, were her next taxpayer provided electric wheelchair to break down, she can pay to have it repaired or replaced with her own earnings in a more timely manner. One often sees TV news coverage of demonstrations where electric chair drivers are skillfully darting about demanding more taxpayer support for themselves. Certainly this demonstrates they have the technological expertise needed to preform skilled productive labor from an accommodated sitting position. Ronald |
