Its terrible that people are getting killed these days for nothing. This story really upsets me, because it seems that these police officers are out of control, and using excessive force. I've been racially profiled, harrassed by officers before and its really ridiculous. Something has to be done, because it just seems like every time I read the news, I see that someones been shot or killed, or beaten badly. We as citizens need make a stand and take action.

It seems to be cool to put down the cops - until you need them.

Were you there?? Ever fought with a samoan before????
You=moron
It was a Samoan neighborhood, the deceased was a near 50 y/o skinny shirtless blackman in the last stage of lung cancer (prob metastasized in the brain). The neighbors that called police were complaining about the ruckess not that they were afraid for their lives. Two sober, fully equipped, trained police officers against one unarmed shirtless terminal cancer patient? Come on I'm pro police but this one stinks.
His INLAWS were Samoan.

Cops could have tased him, used baton's themselves, mass force, anything but shoot the poor mofo.

I guess it's much easier to shoot a minority than try to subdue him in a non-lethal way.

Nice job. I know I feel safe if God forbid I ever get disoriented in public.

This is a total outrage! Why is it that police officers are allowed to shoot and kill people that are not armed! The sad part is that these officers that use excessive force do not have to take responsibilty for their actions and that excessive force is exceptable not only in the police departments in different cities but through out the country! The police department job is to help enforce the laws and to protect the people , but instead they are harming the people and bringing fear of the police department to our communities. This is happening to often and this is very upsetting because as people we really have no rights and we are not protected by the laws of this country

Remember the often repeated police credo " I'm going to make sure I go home to my family at night " Hmmmmm.

Isn't there enough going on in Philadelphia? Why are these people coming here posting about something they are not even a part of??

And no, no outrage here. Just a sigh of relief that we have one less menace running around the neighborhood harassing people. Good job, LBPD!!

THESE COPS SHOULD ALL BE IN PRISON FOR MURDER. THE COMMUNITY PAYS THESE LOW LIFES ONLY TO SUPPORT BRUTALLITY AND VIOLENCE. THEY SHOULD CUT OFF ALL THEIR BUDGETS AND DECREACE THEIR SALLARIES FOR WASTING THE COMMUNITES MONEY. THESE ACTS ARE DISPICALBE, THE LBPD SHOULD BE ASHAMED, PUNNISHED AND HELD RESPONSIBLE. THE COMMUNITY WILL RISE UP AND PUT A STOP TO POLICE MISCONDUCT.
Hey, dumb ass, first of all go back to school to learn how to spell, you illiterate moron. Maybe you secretly wished you could have become a police officer, a noble and frequently thankless profession, one that cities pay thousands of dollars to select, train and test the best of the best. You obviously would never be able to pass the written examination, so shut the f--- up. THEN, imagine your world without anyone to call when you dial 911. Handle your problems by yourself, Einstein. Until you have done our job, don't condemn. I'd like to see how you would perform in the same situation as the officers faced, and see your decision. If you weren't there, keep your ignorant trap shut.

I just listened to the KNBC 4 newscast and I do find it odd that the PIO is lying or was lied to. As I said before, I listened to the radio broadcast of this call from start till 2 am when they broke down the scene.

There are some contradictions:

She said he charged the officer immediately, the officer that arrived on the scene said he was "jogging" away from him.

She said the officr was punched in the face, but immediately afterward, they stated no officers had been injured. I know that they call the paramedics to look at any injury suffered by an officer on duty. He must not have been injured if he was in fact punched in the face. There will of course be pictures of his injuries, right?

The call went out as a "buff Samoan", this was hardly a "buff Samoan". I find it odd that the police use that term in their descriptions, but I have heard some strange ones. This would not be a lie from her of course, just discrepancy that led to them thinking he would be "big and strong".

All of this of course will come out in the investigation since it was open radio, and Im sure its all recorded.

Im not saying it wasnt justified, I have no idea, but if they are already lying, then that worries me, why lie if you have nothing to hide?

This was a chaotic mess. The officers did the best job they could under the circumstances. Most people in this area don't like us anyways. They knew he had a serious mental illness yet they allow him to go without treatment then complain when the officer make a judgement based on information they beleived while the family stood by and KNEW he had a mental illness. PCP and bi-polar symptoms appear the same in many cases. If the officers were seriously injured then what would have been said?
Bi-polar is nothing like PCP. While a manic state can create a feeling of grandiosity, it does not cause a person to think they have super human strenght nor give them that strength.

Kudo's to Retired LBPD in Blue Earth, MN. I could not have said it better. Next time their neighborhood needs a cop....don't call us....we'll call you....or maybe we'll wait 'till the coroner can handle your problem folks. 9+1+1 = the IQ of most here.

They always tasered him, and did all of that.. but he STILL resisted and he tried to beat up a police officer.. so he get shot.. a well deserved death IMO.

It was last evening while on lbt bus route 190s, a black male observed leaving downtown long beach police department lobby, wearing a wrist band, which means he was just released from jail after more than 24 hours in their custody, and an officer involved shooting. Unnexpectedly the man boarded the 111 bus I take to work five days each week, he described a homeboy of his being killed by long beach police officers saturday afternoon, he stated that he saw his partner lying on the ground, and placed his head of his lap, and officer descended upon him, began kicking him, and a flashlight caused injury to his knee and was transported to long beach community hospital, from there he was transported to the long beach city jail, his cadillac lowrider impounded, and someone posted his bail.
