Charles Hamilton and Robert Reilly both need to wake-up and smell the recession. Education is receiving way more money than it needs to teach the children in their care.

George Carlin said it best...

"There's a reason why education sucks and it's the same reason it will never...ever...ever be fixed. It's never gonna get any better...don't look for it...be happy with what you got because the owners of this country don't want that. I'm talking about the REAL owner now...the real owners...the big wealthy business interests that control things and make all the important decisions. Forget the politicians. The politicians are put there to give you the idea you have freedom of choice. You don't...you have no choice! You have owners...they OWN YOU! THEY OWN EVERYTHING! They own all the important land. They own and control all the corporations. They've long since bought and paid for the senate, the congress, the state houses, the city halls. They've got the judges in their back pockets and they own all the big media companies so they just about control all the news and information you get to hear. THEY GOT YOU BY THE BALLS! They spend billions of dollars every year lobbying to get what they want. Well, we know what they want...they want more for themselves and less for everybody else, but I'll tell you what they don't want...they don't want a population of citizens capable of critical thinking. They don't want well informed...well educated people capable of critical thinking. They are not interested in that...that doesn't help them. That's against their interest."

He ends with...

"They call it the American Dream because you have to be asleep to believe it"

RIP George!

The Pelosi healthcare bill does nothing to improve healthcare, unless of course you believe that bio-fuels are an essential ingrediant of heathcare. If you believe that the government will not attempt to implement limits on who and what will be be covered, then you have more faith in government than can possibly be justified by the demostrated behavior of government.
As I wrote after the 2008 election, "If you think the liberal democrats in California have done such a great job in bankrupting California, just wait until Pelosi and Waxman bankrupt the US."
Personally, I am concerned with the loss of my freedom to chose the healthcare that I decide are in my best interest. I do not want John Q Public or some government employee making choices for my wellbeing.
Instead of Congress (HR3200) attempting to improve healthcare, it is another boondoggle similar to the "Stimulus" bill passed in February. We see how well that piece of legislation has benefitted our economy.
Grand schemes usually end up creating grand messes. The house version of "healthcare reform" increases cost, bloats the budget deficit and limits freedom.
I for one am totally against this bill.

I can only but shake my head at James Kennedy's letter and his prejudices... "exploiting illness"? I presume he refers to the doctors, nurses, office staff, researchers, who get out of bed everyday before sunup and work 60-80 hour weeks... is he implying they are exploiting their patients? Or is he singling out the (boo hiss) evil insurance companies for his scorn, you know the ones that average 6% profits for managing the payments in and out in a way that ensures solvency.

Recosider, James. Perhaps your hypothetical sick citizen is the exploiter if they carry an expectation of free gratis servitude from others.

With the statements made by Ms. Mary Howell, who originated from Great Britain, I believe it is about time to re-examine (in-depth) he nature of the global political economy. As a sociologist, this is my personal opinion.

James B Kennedy is correct in his assertion that the exploitation (in the derogatory sense) of health care for financial profit is morally indefensible. One might ask, then, why is Big Government seeking to profit by seizing complete control of Big health care and Big insurance - to an extent even greater than it already does?

The answer is that Big Government's motives go far beyond the mere exploitation of hard working overburdened taxpayers for the purpose of financial gain in the form of linking Big Medicine and Big Insurance to Big Government health care. That underlying motive is the enabling of Big Government to exercise complete control - both for purposes of increased taxation and for purposes of increasingly repugnant social engineering and manipulation - over those whom it rules, to an extent that even Orwell would be put to shame.

If you believe anything the insurance companies tell you, then you're a dork. There is no competition. There is no free market. Try applying for insurance. You will probably get turned down. When CEO's of these companies take home hundreds of millions of dollars AFTER taxes, and one man alone took home 1.8 BILLION dollars AFTER taxes, there is simething horribly wrong. What planet do you live on? Your head must be in URANUS!

simple fact is this state and Long Beach are spending way too much money supporting non-citizens. my tax dollars are going from my pocket to the pockets of people who have never paid any taxes. cut welfare, stop housing subs, deport criminal illegals, and create a federal id card system for job eligibility. And start cracking down on employers who hire non-citizens. a lot of money will be freed up for citizens. I don't give a crap about people coming to America for a better life (illegally).

Problem is a lot of those immigrants work real hard whereas if you look at Section 8 recipients, welfare scammers, etc. many are home grown folks who haven't figured out how to get off their arses yet.

And now with free doctor visits any time they want paid for by working people, they'll screw those arses down even tighter to the sofa now. Why work?

Daily Horoscope for December 23

Pisces

Someone is in a very boisterous mood today, and you may want to make yourself scarce after a short spell in their company. Their idea of a joke may be your idea of extreme rudeness, or they could take pleasure in being argumentative just for the sake of it. Don't let this person wind you up or you'll go off pop through sheer tension.
