Another reason not to allow Tractor-Semi-Trailers the same speed as cars and motorcycles . The Bigger the vehicle the more dangerous it is for others ( cars and motorcycles ) on the same roadway . Truck drivers are supposedly professional drivers and are paid to be a professional driver . Too many lives are being lost to the increase in speed for heavier and bigger vehicles . A lot of these crashes are happening on the side roadways .

It doesn't look like you read the article very well: motorcycle ran into the tractor trailer as it was slowing down to turn. This accident has nothing to with the truck driver, but everything to do with the motorcyle rider who, according to police accounts, indicated "speed was a factor."

This story in no way backs up your comment. In this case the significantly smaller vehicle was at fault.

Would you argue that SUVs and Trucks shouldn't be allowed to drive the same speed as a motorcycle? Have you ever seen the results of an 8000 lb SUV colliding with a 400 lb motorcycle? The problem doesn't lie with speed limits, it's carelessness by all on the roads.

They said the speed of the motorcycle was a factor. Not the Semi, as he was turning. You have a young guy on a machine that goes too fast and the speed went to his head. Instead of being cautious, he was careless, and paid for it dearly. It states, "when a tractor-trailor in front of him slowed to turn into a private drive." He was going too fast to slow down and not paying attention. Sad for his family.

it dosent have anything to do with the motorcycles dude, it has to do with people who ride them being just plain f. ucking stupid to the rules of the road, the speed limit, and not having any damn common sense! most of them do not need to be riding to begin with!

followed the story ok til it said dayton freight. Its amazing how many dayton freight drivers and employees are total smart alec morons. It immediately made me wonder if this driver was one of them and deliberately "toyed" with the bike rider because they didnt like how he was riding.

He could have just as easily been in a car. If you're not paying attention to what is going on around you - you're bound to get in trouble.

At least the article mentioned he was wearing a helmet, usually when a helmet is involved the author doesn't mention it. But death without a helmet, they put that information in bold type.
