Was anyone else disappointed in the South London Little League this year? Seems to be going down hill every year.
For sure

Yes I agree. But they have gotten rid of just about all of the people on the board that was dragging the place down. It should be really good from here on out, unless it is to late and people defect on them.

the umpires that i have seen are high school students and they do make some bad calls they are not professionals so what can you expect but other than that i think south is great

A lot of the umps are high school students or recent grads. Some of the board members are moving on this year and hopefully some new ones can join. I believe it will be more positive and better environment in the future. Also, who runs the North League. The website is never updated. How is the competition compared to the south league. I have kids in teeball in south and curious about the Norths league and their players.

They have a good program at NL. Some of the leagues have better players at NL, some at SL are better, it just depends. You get kids certain ages that are just a strong group going thru. For instance NL has a great 10 yr old group right now & I heard SL has a good Little League age group. Wee ball and T'League, who knows?:)

I heard over the week end, they had nine days to practice all-stars, so it will be sometime after that.

Been invloved with SLLL for several years. Umpires are always an issue. Some are good and some are not. I think over all the league was ran very well this year. We had alot of rain outs but some were made up. Thought the board and coaches did very well. The league my grandchild plays in the coaches decided not to make up the games but we still got in 16 I think. People complain about things just to start trouble. "Disapointed" try somewhere else and then come back.

Overall, this year SL was run pretty great. Umps were kinda odd but there High School students, they cant be perfect. The Minor league were good, Coaches played fair and so did the Kids. They also have my variety in foods their too haha. They have been good athletes from what I saw. So keep it up SL

Our kids will not play at SL next year. The umps were horrible this year, they kept the pitchers and batters so confused they didn't learn a thing as far as we could tell. There has to be better umps out there somewhere. Only positive thing about SL is the food at the concession stand & that just isn't what it is all about!!

I have been around SLL for 15 years now. This year was fine. As for umpires, let the high school students earn some money. Yes some are better than others, but they did a fine job. It is not easy putting up with parents and coaches at little league age groups, t-ball etc. and that is why you can't get the qualified umps to come out. They are not going to put up with parents and coaches at that level.(Little Johnny or Jane could never make an out). No complaints here.

Also, league play is good and fun for the kids, that is what Little League is for. But if parents want kids to improve you must play better competition and play travel ball. Which means a commitment from the parents (money $$ and time)and also from the kids because weekends you play ball (3-4 games a day) plus the kids have to want to do it with all the games, extra practice time, and giving up weekends instead of doing other things.

We worked with one of two umps most games this year. One said one thing about the rules, the other said something entirely different. The kids never knew what they were going to be allowed to do or expected to do because one ump would allow something the other wouldn't. One required a facemask, the next game he didn't. One added an out in the second inning on us when we had only 8 players, but they hadn't done it to the other team the week prior when that happened. All we expect, as coaches and parents, is that our team and our kids be treated fairly. But when you have a high school kid out there who doesn't care and doesn't want to be there and doesn't even want to make a call that might upset someone, send him home. Let him go practice football, but don't keep putting him out there and make our kdis pay for it.

Im back and for you people that dont like south program come on down to knox county and you will gladly return to south and keep your mouth shout and let the kids have fun. In the real world their are plenty of problems, its how you deal with them that counts. Baseball is a game and before you know it your kids will be through this terrible time. By then you guys that complain will have something else to harp on.

Those Umps didn't do a fine job! It might have been fine for you, but it wasn't fine for the kids and parents that I was associated with. No one was happy about the job the umpires did this year, because it kept the kids confused. They could not figure out the strike zone period.

Also, not everyone can afford to play 'travel ball', the rich kids are the only ones that can afford to do that with the economy the way it is right now. I know four families that scraped enough together so their kids could play at SL this year, two of them the Dad's had lost their jobs and the other two the Mom's had. Plus, you have to have some pull to get on those teams, or be ask by whoever is coaching them. So, don't act like all you have to do is show up for a 'travel team' in order to play, it doesn't work that way and you know it. No one is fooled on that score.

Right, little league is suppose to be a good influence on the youngsters and fun, however, they should be learning something in little league & all they learned this year was that the strike zone was as big as a bus. Too many we know agree, it was a waste this year at SL.

Why does everybody always complain about the rich kids. These kids dont have a job. Their parents have worked hard so they can have a good life. Get off the welfare and get a job so your kids can have better things and do more. Everybody wants a handout. Big daddy you are right about knox baseball, they have alot more problems than south baseball league.. I hear that corbin is no better than Knox. Why dont all you people that bitch and moan go elsewhere and you could cry to someone else and see if they give a d/a/m.

No one I know is on the welfare, get with the discussion - it had nothing to do with welfare! I heard no one asking for a handout!! It had to do with the umps at SL this year. I could care less about the problems at Knox baseball, we played at SL, which is where we are interested in things improving. And, you can try to turn things away from how unfair 'travel ball' is all you want to, but it is for the 'RICH' kids - or the ones who have parents that have some political clout! Please, everyone knows you are not saying just anyone can sign up for travel ball & play, we all know better.

Daily Horoscope for January 6

Libra

Don't hold anything in, especially an emotional burden. The only way to drown the past is to open the floodgates. If you've got something to say, come right out and say it. The only people who might be offended by your honesty don't really matter in the grand scheme of things anyway, Libra. Great changes flow smoothly through your day. When you take charge, everyone feels at home.
