I was offered a job in the DHS department of ACS, and also have an offer from a different company, so I am weighing my options here.

How often after you start to your benefits start? Do they FORCE you to take their insurance like Vangent? How much does said insurance cost?

I was told I would start at 10.55, but I'm wondering how the piece rate system works there. Anyone have any info?

Do you know anyone who works there? If so what do they bring home on average per paycheck?

I currently work there your answers are:
Your benefits start after 6 months but you have to wait a year to select a plan. The one they give you at first is crappy and it's like $180 a week.
No the don't force you to take it out, but if your like me you got to & my friend pays $600 for her insurance for her, spouse, and her child. it's outragous.
Piece rate is impossible to make, people that have been there for 5 years stil don't make it. You have to maintain 100% accuracy and key things written by foreign people that are impossible to read.
My paycheck is currently around $800 without insurance. But starting in February we won't have any work and will only work about 30 hours a week so your looking at a huge pay cut which sucks! Although at the beginning of the summer you are forced to work 10 hours a day monday-friday and 8 hours on saturday. The hours are 4pm to 2:30 am when you work OT.
Some other details are:
No smoking on the premises or on 10 minute breaks.
Can't miss work for the first 6 months or your wrote up.
Have to make quality and production or your wrote up.
&& and as far as people working there, the managers are good but the co-workers are two faced as can be.
Hope this helped to answer your questions, sorry if it sounded kinda harsh but this is ACS DHS department Building 3, i've worked there for a year and as soon as i'm finished with college i'm out of there. BTW where was your other job offer?

It just depends what department you work in. I forgot there are different ones. I just know what he makes. However there are some good benefits and then sucky ones. They don't care about their employees.

I think your crazy, I work in the highest paid department there and you only make around 25K a year. The rest of the departments pay at the most $8 and hour. A family member works as a manager in one of the dept and she makes minimum wage.

Take the job, but still keep looking for something better while your there. Add it to your resume, because most people don't stay long, or get fired after six to eight months.

New employee's are always coming in like a revolving door because the unemployment rate in the area is at all time highs, and they bring in fresh meat everyday because they know they can.

The pay is over 13 an hour for mailroom and higher for data entry. The federal government sets the base pay. If you want a job that lets you miss work when ever you want then look somewhere else. Or you can get a job at some fast food place and see how much better you get treated there. Some people want to miss all the time then cry when they get in trouble. If you donít want to show up for work then donít get the job to start with. They tell you when you get hired that you must work the hours needed but then some workers get hired and think that shouldnít apply to them. They act like ACS workers are mistreated but have no clue what itís like in other places. Go get yourself a McJob for a while then come to ACS and youíll see what I mean. Itís a good job and pays better than most other jobs in this area but donít think you will set your own work hours. You could try the job shop and work at a high paying place for min wage.

Data entry makes 10.55. You make more if you don't take out insurance, but base rate is 10.55.

INS pay is 3.35 extra per hour so 13.90 for 80 hours a pay period. If you take insurance you still get the INS pay but it goes to pay for your insurance.

Your freakin stupid, if you take out insurance they take all of the $3.35 ++++ they cut your paycheck. &&AND you never make 13.90 NEVER it's always 13.55!!

I said it goes to pay for your insurance. Lets see if I can make this simple for you to understand. You get 3.35 an hour for INS pay. If you get 10.55 base pay and 3.35 INS pay that equals 13.90 not 13.55. Itís good that math wasnít part of your test. They canít take or cut your 3.35 if you donít make it can they? So yes you do make INS pay for 80 hours a pay period regardless but if you take out insurance they will cut the INS pay or at least part of it. Besides that they donít take the 3.35 unless you take the insurance so if you donít like it drop it and quit crying about it.

Actually i'm really good at math, made all A's.
But what i'm saying is that they take the 3.35 away AND part of your check. Bottom line:
The insurance is outragous.

P.S. All i'm saying is that i have never made anything above 13.55 on my check, don't know where it's going but thats the complete truth.

Exactly! If you have insurance they take the 3.35 INS pay PLUS you still pay your premiums. The INS pay goes to pay for a portion of the premiums ACS pays towards your insurance. It does not benefit the employee. Not sure why Dr. Jekyll wants to argue otherwise if they are an employee. Perhaps they don't have insurance and don't understand how it works.

If it does not benefit you then why do you take it out? And besides that, some people have insurance and still get some of their INS pay. It depends on the insurance plan you take out. I you make 13.55 an hour and have insurance then you are paying .35 cents an hour for insurance. If you made Aís in math then you should be able to figure that one out. I do agree the insurance is too expensive but before you call someone stupid you should get your information correct. Donít base everything on your situation alone. And for your information they cut life insurance out of everybodyís pay even if you do not take any insurance at all. It does not show on your check stub either. If youíre missing .35 cents an hour, thatís about $28 a pay period, itís probably taken for life insurance which would mean that you are not even taking out an insurance policy at all. If you do have insurance then .35 cents an hour doesnít seem like much anyways.

i hated that place, bunch of uppity people that think for some reason they are better than everyone else, but they are not. it all depends on who u know and who u blow. these people are all pathetic and need each other so they wont have to be alone because noone else can stand their attitudes, as far as pay goes ther are a few other places that pay they same or better so its nothing special
