Attempt to remove red-light cameras fails in Loma Linda

Full story: San Bernardino County Sun

The city won't be getting rid of red-light cameras - at least not anytime soon. A divided City Council on Tuesday rejected an attempt to remove the cameras, which were installed at four intersections in December 2005.

Your city officials need to see the recent report shown on Channel 2 news in LA, just this week. LAPD tried to tell people cameras cut down on accidents, too. They manipulated their figures to show accidents were reduced. When the news investigator got the records, it proved to not be truth. Most intersections with the cameras were tripled from the same period before the installation. Why were they fudging..? Because the city made $4 million dollars on the cameras last year. I'm betting if the truth were told, Loma Linda made a lot more money than the story reports. Politicians only care about money, not people's safety.
City's in the area are dropping the system like a hot potato. It will soon happen in Loma Linda, too, if the leaders are honest...!

I agree with Don B.

Also, a yellow light used to mean "Slow down and prepare to stop" as described in the DMV booklet. Now, people stop on those yellow lights and risk getting rear-ended.

They added "one second" to the yellow lights. That's how much they care...(!)

The red light cameras do not reduce severe accidents and fatalities as a whole. It just causes more people to use roads that are not monitored by these cameras, where fatalities have actually increased.

Rear-end collisions at red light camera intersections almost triple once the lights are installed. But the cities don't care, because they aren't making any money from our increased insurance costs. Last month, I was hit by an illegal alien, and he had no insurance. After waiting almost 2 hours for civilian "inspector" (they wouldn't send a police officer) they let him go, saying "there's nothing we can do". He didn't even get a ticket ("We didn't see him drive") and I get a $500 repair bill? Something is wrong with the system!

Readers need to know about Snitch Tickets, which are fake/phishing red light camera tickets sent out by the police in an effort to get the registered owner to identify the actual driver of the car.(Local cities using this "social engineering" tactic are Corona, Loma Linda, Moreno Valley, Riverside, and Victorville.) Snitch tickets have not been filed with the court, so they don't say "Notice to Appear," don't have the court's address and phone # on them, and usually say, on the back (in small letters), "Do not contact the court about this notice." Since they have not been filed with the court, they have no legal weight whatsoever. You can ignore a Snitch Ticket. If in doubt, Google the term.

This has happened to me TWICE. The first time I broke my neck and sustained a brain injury- the recovery ruined me and cost me every dime I had. The second time it totaled a new truck with only 23,000 miles on it. BOTH times the useless cops said "We can't give them a ticket, they'll just run back to Mexico to get out of it anyway".

Funny, they issued me a red light camera ticket without any problem. NOW, if a light turns yellow I slam on brakes. I will not get another at any cost. I just hope the moron rear-ending me is another illegal from Mexico...let'em taste the steel of an F-250 rear bumper!!!

When Redlands adjusted the yellow light times to what they should be, the number of red light tickets dropped to nearly zero and now the camera is being eliminated.

$450 for traffic ticket? That's a week's take home pay for me but just an hour's pay for Ziprick. No wonder he's for it. His kids won't go hungry this week.

Each and everyone of these tickets can be beaten in court as they do not meet the requirements set forth by California Law.
VC 210 states that the camera shall take a clear photo of the driver and the license plate of the vehicle in the same frame.
The tickets you receive usually show a ? photo of the driver and a separate photo of the license plate, but not in the same frame.
This is equivalent to having a photo of Obama shooting a pistol and another photo of President Kennedy's head exploding from a gunshot and concluding that it was Obama who shot him..
There is case law that supports this.Problem is who has the time to appear in court to plead not guilty, pay a bail (fine) and then appear again to present your case and when you win wait o have your bail refunded!

That's why I avoid the city like the plague. I will take an extra 5 minutes to go around the city to and from work.

I've written this before on this subject, if a few civic minded citizens with paint ball guns would take it upon themselves to perform a small service they might even create a new job classification, Camera Lens Cleaner. After all this country was created by Civil Disobedience. I see no reason to support some pimply faced kid in front of a computer screen in Arizona, when our laws state the infraction has to be witnessed by an Officer of the Court.

The YELLOW light time was not adjusted to what it should have been. The timing was set properly for the posted speedlimit.

It was just lenghtened by 0.8 seconds to give a bit more cushion.

And you are right, the amount of tickets dropped quite a bit when that cushion was added.

I don't believe Ellen White is enjoying what the city of Loma Linda has become.
