The Mexican Government should pull their troops out, they are loosing this battle against the druggies.
They are loosing too many men and innocent people are dying because of this war on drugs.
The violence has been worse since the government sent troops in to Juarez, Mexico. What was President Calderon thinking?
I wonder if PRI or PAN is asking to pull the troops?
(sarcasm is great isn't it?)

Mr. Payan is living in a dream world stating "El Pasoans should not worry about going to Juarez." How should El Pasoans feel safe in a foreign country when the citizens of that country don't even feel safe. Stray bullets can hit anyone at anytime, which is becoming more and more prevalent with so much of the "spray and pray" warfare going on in Juarez. Even a highly trained shooter knows that once a bullet leaves the barrel there is no calling it back. If it (the bullet) does not strike it's intended target it's eventually going to strike somewhere or someone. So, yes El Pasoans should be very worried about traveling to Juarez at this point in time.

Thats the problem now, our country has a seemingly too easy willingness to flex its military and political might into business that is really none of our own. If common sense prevails, marijuana will be decriminalized and its production and consumption taxed just like alcohol, tobacco & legal prescriptions such as Valium. It has never been more clear that governments have a limit on how much it can successfully legislate morality and stop people around the world who'd prefer to make their own decisions on the use of marijuana and put an end to the bloodshed and criminal elements that profit from its declaration as being illegal! Seems to me that if 2+2 keeps equaling 3 we'd get the drift and correct the arithmetic.

The government has tremendous resources at their disposal. It should declare Juarez in a militia state and take over the police precincts. That would remove all corrupt cops who are obviously relaying information to the cartels. What is the Army doing? They should have enough information gathered to start synchronized military blitzes and uproot, destroy methodically the cartels. Where's is the planning? Lets go.

The Mexican Army is probably the best chance to restore some kind of order to Juarez, but the rumors (if ture) of folks being shakendown in their homes by the soldiers is not helping anymore than the paid off police officers.

Does anybody really believe the soldiers will put an end to the cross-border drug trade? Let's get real. It's just a show of force by the new Calderon administration to score some points with the US and establish dominance with the drug cartels after a somewhat controversial election. The mexican military and government are every bit as corrupt as the cops in Juarez. They're just upset b/c the juarez cartel underlings haven't been kicking up to the bosses. It's all for show.

that is why I am an Obama Mama. He has been saying since 2004 that this war on drugs has no effect on the demand and supply consumption. The war in Mexico is an attempt to monopolize one car tel to take care of this for everyone. The same way Time Warner monopolizes the Cable industry.

Obama has stated that there is a need to decriminalize Marijuana and recognize the postive use that has been legalized for terminally ill people. Once we tax this import in itself we can probably cover the majority of our deficit.

If people can drink and drive...smoke and drive why cant they get high and drive. The point is that they are going to do it...you kill the car tels when you make it legal and you win half the fight.

VOTE OBAMA because he believes in decriminalizing the drug and will let the women keep their right to choose.

You touched on Mexico supporting the Nazis,Well Germany offered to help Mexico to recover lands taken from the US in return for support for German war aims. However the US had the pronouncement of the Good Neighbor Policy in 1934 that time Mex. Pres. Lazaro Cardenas nationalized oil interests (US oil interests)and the US retaliated by repatriating Mexicans, many of them American-born during the Great depression. mMxico did not side with nazi. Mexico had sent a Squdran to fight in the Fermosa Theatre. You ponder as to why people think the way they do...

No number of Mexican soldiers will fix this problem. Corruption is all over the place down there. This is a simple ploy to make the general population think that the government is addressing the issue. The truth is that this level of killing has been going on in Juarez for many years. The numbers were pulished in "El Diario" a few months back. The difference is that most of this was simply covered up before or was not publicised. Legalize drugs and this problem goes away. People who use drugs will continue to use drugs. People who don't use drugs will not be enticed to use. Drug dealers will no longer be able to make a killing. The government will tax the crap out of these drugs. The violence will go away. Yes, you are thinking to think of all the violence that'll come from all the new drug users. There will be no more violence than what we currently have. Legalize drugs. Stop support of the Mexican government. Close the borders.
