Civil Rights groups no longer have a place in the U.S. All they do is complain and cry when somethin happens.....Do what the cops say and you wont get tazed. Very simple

"There are also cases from Roswell and Raton where suspects died after being Tased." That's a mis-truth. Yes, the Raton suspect had been tazed, but he died from cocaine overdose, NOT the tazer.

The National Hispanic Rights Group should tell all the Hispanic Doushebags that break the law that tazers come right before bullets. Dont like it? Listen to the cops. La Policia!! Build the fence!!!

I would like to know what they recommend to replace tazing. Tazing was put into effect to give officers an alternative to shooting suspects. It doesn't make sense to run from or resists the police when the demand you don't move. We need to teach more respect for the legal authority the police have, then we will have less incidents such as this.

They claim that over 400 people have died after being tazed since the Taser was introduced....how many people have died since the gun was introduced???

Do they prefer that the cops just go back to using guns all the time? I don't know. I think I'd prefer to be tasered than shot in the head with a bullet. But that's just me maybe. :O)

Tasers don't kill people. Sado-Masochistic Police Officers who are too lazy to talk a situation out, or not satisfied that Pepper Spray will inflict enough damage kill people. Attacks against police have actually decreased (US Department of Justice, Sourcebook of Criminal Justice Statistics). Now more police officers are killed due to traffic accidents than are killed feloniously. Yeah, I know we have had a few lately, but we are talking as a nation and the cumulative amount. It's one thing to use it against someone who is coming at you, but when you use it against a teen-age girl who is just running from you without having committed a felony, or some homeless guy pushing a shopping cart on Central Avenue that's a bit much. Voltage KILLS people. Not everyone can withstand the same voltage. Not everybody Tased is a criminal. A little old lady was recently Tased on National Television because she got a little mouthy. What's next? Politicians and their army of police officers equipping themselves with Tasers to use against angry participants at Town Hall Meetings?! Even BEAN BAG ROUNDS are preferable to being Tasered, considering a lot of officers LOOOOVE to just keeping zapping people for the hell of it.

In every video I have seen in which an officer used a tazer, the suspect (I wont call them a victim) was told repeatedly to comply with the officers instructions or be tazed. If someone is tazed after repeated instructons to comply with an officer, they are getting off easy. Is this group implying that Hispanics are victimized more than other ethnic groups with the use of tazers? La Freeza, La tazera.

I was attacked by two men as I was leaving work one night. Using the training that I recieved from an APD Officer I am alive today, and both men are behind bars. This happend over 5 years ago. I also have a permit to carry a gun, but I choose to have a taser.

civil rights groups should use their influence to teach people to STOP breaking the LAW. Albuquerque crime is one of highest per capita in the nation. If people don't comit crimes they won't have to worry about getting Tazed. The police do the best they can. They don't drive around and look for people to Taze. What do the cry babies want them to use Slingshots?

If a cop pulls you over or asks youo to calm down just do it, you can always complain later when cooler heads prevail.

I have seen Albuquerque Police Officers Tase people left and right downtown. I have seen them walk up to innocent people, yell obscenities in their face and blast 50,000 volts of power right down their throat. I know because I've seen it happen all too often downtown Albuquerque. It doesn't take a brain surgeon to know that 50,000 volts of electric charge can stop your heart or fry your brain and melt your central nervous system. The Heart runs on electricity to begin with. I'd like to know how these abusive misleading police officers would react if Kailee Martinez was their daughter?

I wish I had had one (they hadn't been invented yet) when I was stabbed in the back, hit over the head with thick, German beer bottles, and then stomped on and kicked in the head and face while I was down by two fellow GIs in Germany that apparently didn't like White people. I am thankful, though, that two MPs from the 503rd MP Co. came driving by as one of them was getting ready to stab me again after taking my wallet! Maybe you missed the portion of the post were the poster said "It's one thing if they are coming at you....". PS They never caught my attackers. It was July 5, 1971, 2100 hrs., it was very dark, and the attackers had their fatigue shirts off so I couldn't even get a name tag or unit patch. Improperly used, even a golf club becomes a deadly weapon. And sometimes when the golf club or Taser is misused by an influential person, or slightly less influential but nevertheless still powerful person like a police officer justice is hard to get for the common man or woman.

Oops. There goes my TBI again. To the person who said what part of "freezo" "Tazerso" don't you understand, maybe you didn't see the dash camera footage of that police officer who told the US SERVICE MEMBER who was only the passenger in a suspect vehicle to "stand up" and as the serviceman complied, the Police Officer SHOT HIM. I saw that video. It totally disgusted me. I worked on the job. Not every police officer is forthright, and some have a downright nasty streak in them. A uniform doesn't make everything you do right. Just ask any modern German.

Maybe if a certain unmentioned ethnic group would remove excessive alcohol consumption from their culture then perhaps the cops wouldn't have to taser them as much when they're drunk in public.

Hey, old marine. Thankful for your service. No one is ALWAYS blaming police officers, bud. I'm a former grunt-US Army-Recon- and a former Deputy Sheriff (Colorado). Hey, bud. You know some guys you served with weren't right in the head. Some came in that way. Some got that way after what they been through. Same thing with police officers, OK? When you put that kind of power in people's hands, it's gonna get misused. In the case of Tasers- they often take the place of verbal skills, and just good old fashioned pepper-spraying, or krav-magga or whatever they teach nowadays. We are saying they are often misused unnecessarily, and we are not "always" blaming the cop. I used to be a cop. I wasn't comfortable working with some of the people on my watch. To the point that if they said the sky was blue, I'd take a look for myself.'Nuff said.

I have personally witnessed an Albuquerque police officer tazing a suspect, it appeared the suspect was tazed because the police officer wanted to get even somehow. I overheard the police officer taunting the suspect as he laid on the ground BEING tazed! The suspect was tazed literally in the doorway of my business so I saw and heard EVERYTHING that happened. After hearing the officers taunts, I wanted to TAZE the officer myself just to get even with HIM!!
