Most of the earliest prehistory of man was attained simply by imitating the animal kingdom. So even though most of it had positive effects, unfortunately there were negative ones... and they're looooooong lasting.

People are tribal by nature and that is the major cause. Like of a kind will stick together! Unfortunately the blacks make ghettos were ever they go. They just can't get out of the loin cloth and grass hut, drum beating mentality!

But, Crime Fighter... The question was "How did Racism come into the World?" Not "Who earns it or who promotes it".

Crime Fighter -First of all the term is African American not Black. Black is a color and african american is a nationality also african americans does not make ghettos people of different creeds make ghettos. You making the comment that you did is hard core proof that you are a racist because the topic did not mention african americans not ghettos. It seems that you have a personal issue that you seriously need to take of.

bacon's rebellion seems to be the first written account of racism. though nearly 11 million Africans were taken from their home they were not the only ones, Irish persons were considered the scum of the earth to the Europeans during the atlantic slave trade. Indentured servants were the ideal during this period. It had nothing to do with the color of their skin, it was just who was cheaper. Read "myne owne ground" by T.H. Breen
He talks all about race relations and how they develop. |

Brilliant observation white dude! Racism is kept alive by people who bring out the worst of their ethnecity. It will never end because no matter how much the rest of try to be decent people, there are always the jerks who screw it up for the rest of us.
The nonconformists, people who don't want to learn English, the ones who don't take showers, freeloaders and the list goes on. People used to come to America to be Americans. It's not the same anymore and until we start electing real Americans to office, expect more of the same. Sorry for he bad news. |

Racism was created by white American settlers. They needed labor to build the U.S. Indentured servitude wasn't working, for one because there weren't enough white slaves (aka "indentured servants") to toil this land, and for another, when white indentured servants tried to escape, they were hard to capture, because they could not be as easily identified (by skin color, for example).
So, whites stole Africans from their homeland and made them into slaves, while boosting white slaves to positions as "slave overseers." But white America still had to justify the practice b/c this is a "Christian" nation. To justify slavery, they used their institutions and discourse to create the myth that Africans were not real human beings. Hence, the birth of racism. It is a social construction (man made, not natural). Racism has served to institutionally keep an entire people and their offspring from acquiring wealth, political power, etc. A lot has changed since then, but not nearly as much as is claimed by U.S. government and news media. Today, instead of slavery, big business appropriation of black culture is another way that African Americans are exploited to make this country wealthy. However, many of the financial deals made in America take place on the golf course, at the country club, at clouted functions, gatherings, to which blacks are not openly invited. This keeps blacks out of the power structure, which is called "institutional racism." Blacks get a few peanuts, so that the white-controlled media and government can say "That's the past, get over it," but America still lives a lie. There is a huge disparity. You wouldn't be asking the question, if we were sufficiently beyond racism. Racism is about control, and the media will use its most fierce right wing critics to keep things the same. That's why there's "black this" and "Hispanic that" because people are forced to make their own coalitions, due to the way the country works systematically to dominate power and wealth in favor of white men. Of course, not all white men, but a majority. America was built primarily on the sweat of black Africans. That's how it became a world power. That's just the truth. Blacks have been literally and figuratively used as steps. That they were enslaved and persecuted for over 300 years and are a group that did not immigrate willingly to the U.S. is what makes them different from other ethnic groups, and what makes their challenges more complex. This is racism by definition and in practice, but the concept is not limited to these delineations. To get beyond racism, we would need to come together as one society and finally be who we say we are in our Constitution. But there are so many people self-interested and accustomed to privilege that they do not care that our bigger obstacles are fighting terrorism, managing the economy, and stabilizing our future/image in the world, etc. That's how un-patriotic this power structure is. It wants to keep people focused on the small stuff and away from the big picture. There are some real cool people - white, black, etc.- who this country should be proud of, but the power structure is tainted by many that are not so cool and others that are damaged. These people perpetuate the clash. It is up to the young American generation to save themselves and America. |

Racism is a idea that can not be physically removed. I think time is the only way to get rid of racism, because the elder generations are unchangable in their beliefs of racism. However, the new generation can become more independent of their parents and change. The problem is when parents pass on their ideas to their children.

The best way to end racism is to give a state to afrikan americans like montana ,2 states to latinos like north and south dakota etc and they can do whatever they want to do in their state without worrying about racism.
