Warren Potts has had too many close calls while driving his wife from Lodi to Fairfield over Highway 12 for her monthly quilt club meetings.

County and State officials have been studing this problem for over 10 years. Nothing gets done because of the expense. Highway 12 in the delta is built on peat moss and is in constant motion. That is why the road is so bad. In order to get to four lanes and make the road secure they would have to go down 30 feet and build the road up from there. Cost? Way more than is avalable. One good suggestion from the last time it was studied was to make it a toll road to pay for the construction. Funny how no one wanted to pay but they continue to complain. As long as that highway is two lane, no center divder, there will continue to be fatal accidents.
