Me too. Especially in the death. They haven't proven that it was the resuraunts fault. They had no idea the E. coli was there. Apparently after some testing its other places near there too. If they were unaware, can they win the lawsuit?

I don't think that they have much of a case until the source of contamination is determined. It sounds like they have a problem with their well water out there and not due to neglegence by the restaurant.

We still don't know where the e.coil came from so there's no way these people can win their case. In order to prove liability they must prove fault. By the way Tulsa Mom, I think you're stupid.

How can these people even begin to file a lawsuit against country cottage if the researchers haven't even pinpointed the source of the contamination yet??

Well it's pretty clear the e-coli out break was linked to the Country Cottage in some way. BUT since they did NOT find the source of the e-coli, they may have a hard time proving the restraunt was at fault and liable for the sickness. People are sue happy now days and this lawsuit is no surprise. You can rest assured that there will be more lawsuits, especially if this person wins a settlement.

Maybe there is more to this story than we know. I can't even see how an attorney would take the case if he didn't actually think he could win. I is sad in both ways, for the restraunt and the families that suffered.

The state should have sold everything at public auction and melted the equipment in a huge fire in the parking lot. I had so much hope that it would never be allowed to reopen. I don't think I am the only one that has voiced to everyone they know to never eat there again. Typical "Christian" place full of ethics and true bible slapping and all they cared about was $$$$.

Here we go....i knew it was a matter of time before someone wanted to sue. I wonder how many more are going to jump on the bandwagon. I'm sorry but there is nothing that proves it was solely the fault of the restaurant. Someone just seeing an opportunity to make some money I guess.

you can sue anyone for anything. It's up to a judge to decide whether the case has any merit. Until he does that it's nothing, but paying lawyers in hopes that you can strike gold......or go bust. My guess the people sueing will have an additional financial loss to go with their health scare. To bad they didn't have a lawyer that urged them not to file a suit until there was solid evidance of liability on the part of the restaurant.

The minute the media started reporting this story in the beginning there were ambulance chaser lawyers soliciting clients. There is probably no way that Country Cottage had enough insurance to take care of all these medical bills for people. Most judges with any brain will see that everyone sickened either ate at the Country Cottage or an event they catered, except for the ones who became ill because a person infected by the CC food did not wash their hands thoroughly before preparing their food or had a dirty diaper changed by a person who did not wash their hands thoroughly after the diaper change. I don't think that the owners did anything to cause this with malice. I won't be eating at their restaurant anymore even though I used to eat there often. Maybe this couple really needs help paying their resulting medical bills and aren't really just being greedy. Does anybody know?

Thats the american way maybe they should sue over hospital bills. I could understand that, but we have to take responsibility for where we go what we eat to in life

I'm actually very shocked this is the first we're hearing of them being sued. I just know there's always someone out there looking for a handout.
