I can't wait until I can get on that Midnight Train to Georgia..... @ taxpayer's expense
|

This POS lives?! Kill it, now. We don'tneed, can't afford and don't need the perpetuity of annual operating losses that we taxpayers will have to subsidize.

"U.S. Rep.John Mica had a warning...."? Excuse me?
|
||||
|
Where was Mica last legislative session? Has he talked to Dockery, Evelynn Lynn, Gary Siplin or any of the other 26 Senators who oppose Sun-Rail? He can do all the press conferences and pep rallies he wants but if he doesn't work the Florida Senate, this thing won't pass.

Mica is a perfect illustration of the foolishness of voting Republican (Crist is another, of course). If you have even one conservative bone in your body and you live in his district please retire this guy.
GOP RIP. |

Mica's toupee is too tight. How many lives does this thing have before it's killed off once and for all.

Congratulations Dyer, Mica I wish there were more like you who knows what the Central Florida and Florida overall really needs. This will be an awesome direction for Florida as many has deemed this State as ignorant and unaware. Again I thank you for your fight and if need be bring it to the public.

100 percent true the GOP still thinks it is 1776 and they never heard of new fangled things called trains why they even have one in Porto rico now while we in floridah are always behind thank you GOP |

The previous 6 responses are just absolutely ridiculous. You people have no clue and especially no vision. Please come from out of your farm land and get with the times. Progress is coming to Florida whether you like it or not. This is no longer a retirement state full of swamp and dirt roads. There are so many other states that have mass transit so why would is it so difficult for you people to see the potentials in this advancement. Oh sorry I forgot you have no vision nor do you have any potentials. You are satisfied with you service jobs at $6.00 or $7.00 an hour. The Sun Rail would have made it's money back 200 times over especially with the rising cost of gas. I can only say one word for thos who will fight against this. IDIOTS

Fantastic news...make it happen!

Otherwise known as republicans |

I don't want this train - because Puerto Rico has one, and in this we are better than Central Florida for once!
ok - for real. I do not like christ and the republicans, but I do not know why peoples are not happy with train. It cuts gas cost. It gives jobs to make it. It makes it fast to go to beach. I do not know the politicos, but I like the train. |
||||
The definition of insanity: doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result. Very good winterland, keep insulting the opposition and continue promoting Sun-Rail with a condescending attitude. That worked great last time. |

I am impressed with Mica...he seems to be able to think futuristically and considers what can/will benefit the citizens of Fla...and not just focus on what those who only want to find reasons why something won't work and, in general, seem to want to resist living in the 21st century!
Excuse me, but isn't the whole premise behind being entreprenurial and business oriented (strong conservative and pro-businees principles) about looking to the future, thinking of possibilities, spending money to make money, being bold and even taking reasonable risks? "Can do" thinking is much more appealing than this ongoing whining and wailing about how things can't work and vote against anybody who dares to propose anything with a price tag, in spite of what the long term benefits might be. |

Oh to live in OHIO where the rust colors the snow. To see the the trains crash into each other as BUDDY & MICA impose more taxes. Yes we understand that you believe that you know more then anybody else. Yes you did vote for BARRY in are a member of ACORN but some of us just do not like trains. Especially the ones that are a BRIDGE TO NOWHERE.
|
||||
What train are you talking about? The one that doesn't run on weekends? Or go to the beach? |
||||
I don't know what kind of crack you are smoking. Even the people pushing the thing know it won't make its money back. 7400 daily riders by 2030. That is what the Sunrail website states. 7400 riders eliminates maybe 8000 car trips a day. Between Maitland Blvd and Fairbanks, FDOT forecasts an increase of daily vehicle counts to go from about 185K in 2005 to about 250K in 2025, five years before Sunrail's 2030 date. That is a 35% increase. Sunrail could eliminate a measly 4% of the increase. That still leaves us with a 31% growth in traffic on I-4 and a commuter rail system that has minuscule impact as a solution continually draining money because it will never make money. The idea that Sunrail will lead to thousands of new jobs is one of the worst hype jobs I have ever seen. Some of the numbers the politicos have tossed out exceed the total employment of Walt Disney World. There is zero legitimate statistical support for these numbers. Sunrail is not an economically viable solution to Central Florida's traffic problems. Double decking I-4 would be more economically viable, even with its own cost. |
