Williamsport Shooting Spree

To Whom It May Concern:

I Hope that the Williamsport Police Dept. can find out the reasons for this violence. Also, I am wondering, if the city is going to do everything they can to protect us from violence? This is crazy, that their is so much animosity in our city.

I'm finding it hard to believe there's no connection to these shootings. I think the victims were innocent bystanders, but it will be interesting to learn if all the shooters were young people. Was this some sort of initiation?
I hope the police and the new mayor get a handle on this quickly, find the shooters, and prosecute them to the highest extent of the law.

I am a student at SJNRA school in Williamsport. Our school was put on lockdown for the violence that occurred today. I can't believe this. First, theres four shootings last Friday and now the hospitals still on lockdown and they havent caught these shooters or the ones from Friday. If this is gang related, these retards need to go back to Phillie from where they came and leave the hell alone with our city. -5:42 P.M. January 7, 2008

I live a couple towns away... i just dont understand why there are even "gangs" in such a small city like williamsport... they really need to get rid of the problem(s)..

We moved here less than two months ago. In the past four days we've had the shooting on friday, a crazed driver smash three cars on our street, and today while I walked to the bus stop to get my 5yr old off the bus somebody decided to pull a gun several blocks down from where the bus stop is. The hospital and middle school was put on lock down. When I arrived at the bus stop with my other children in a stroller I was told it was not safe and be careful walking back home. I lived on the outskirts of Detroit for three years, and not even there did I feel the fear I did today of figuring out how I would cover all my kids and keep them safe. I do know that violence against violence is not the answer, but something's got to give, and someone has got to put a stop to this. We moved to a large town, not a metro, but that's how it feels, and I'd pack up and go back where we came, but the ground hasn't mended yet from the first realty sign.

Unbelievable is all I have to say. Premeditated violence, dealer chasing dealer ok whatever. I don't endorse "eye for and eye" dealings but I understand it happens. Random shootings killing inocents lowers these thugs to simple terriorist. No matter what age, they need to be treated like terriorist and punished to the fullest extent of the law. The problem is these retards of society aren't even phased by the thought of jail time. Most jail cells these days have better accommodations then their homes! Bring back the electric chair in Rockview and plug them in about a week after being charged with senseless murder. Here today gone tomorrow. Make them realize that as long as they are carring on this violence they are cockroches of society and plainly need exterminated. Wmspt needs to get angry and find out who is destroying our fine city and kick his ass!

This is insane. I hate to say it but I think its time for the Williamsport police to wage war on all the violence. Campana's banner said to all criminals "on day one your done". How long do we have to wait? Williamsport was once a great city and due to many bad decisions and I feel a total lack of good leadership, it has gone down the drain. City Hall and County Government need to develop a plan together to enforce our laws and secure our safety and be prepared to dish out to these offenders what they are robbing from the decent citizens our city.

I think they should punish them to the extent. not just slap their pattys! Not let them out on bail. Send them in the service. bring our good troops home.

Let us not forget the beginning of this mess. It is because of our past mayor, Jesse Bloom, that we are experiencing all this garbage. It was she who allowed the drug rehab center to be opened up here in order to raise capital funds. Was it worth it? NO! After all these people came to Williamsport for help, they found opportunity for crime and invited their friends up. You can't tell me that this wasn't expected and predicted back then. I am actually debated moving to Lewisburg so my family can walk the streets not scared.

I have commuted to college here for the past 3 years, an I've noticed a major increase in violence. It's sad people feel the need to behave this way and don't think that the stupid crimes that they are commiting will destroy many lives(not just the people they are physically injuring) .

No More Drug rehabs,low income housing. Yes its true Wmspt. has big problems, everyone help the Police, Mayor and D.A.

This has gotten worse and worse as time goes by... I wonder if those who let the 'drug rehabbers' flock here are totally happy with themselves?
Everyone is whining about closing the border to not let the Mexicans (oh, sorry...undocumented aliens) in...but I have YET to see any 'Mexicans' pulling a gun at a UniMart! They have JOBS! I say we put up a border around Lycoming County...

I think they ought to close down the rehab. center and send all the drug people back where they came from.I hope someday the killers will suffer and get what is deserving to them. the electic chair is too good for them. they need to suffer like the victims did.imagine what they and the family is dealing with!It is gonna get worse as long as they let the druggies come in

From what I've been told, January is initiation month for at least one of the major gangs. In order to become a member of the gang, a candidate must shoot a random bystander while looking them in the eye. The whole thing sickens me. Cowards, who don't have enough courage to face the world on their own two feet, commit a cowardly act in order to prove their worth to a bunch of other society drop-outs? Please... Speaking of idiots, does anyone remember a few years back when the Klan was planning a march here, and everyone was up in arms about it? I'm being sarcastic when I say this, but it doesn't really sound like such a bad idea to me now! Haha!
Personally, I'm going to do what I can to help the situation. I know of at least Three drug dealers in and around my neighborhood. I see the Caddies roll in about once a week, and it's painfully obvious what's going on. I'm gonna start taking pictures and writing down license plate numbers. Since I'm not allowed to shoot them myself, maybe the information I give to the police will help get them out of my neighborhood before they shoot me or one of my elderly neighbors.

This is ridiculous. I cannot believe that these people think that its some right to shoot people to get into some stupid gang, it disgusts me. My apartment is a block away from one of the shooting spots and I am scared that innocent people are being killed for no reason at all.

Its time that the community does something about this. These people cannot just run rampant. Imagine if some rival gang tries to top what this gang did and kills more innocent people? Or sends shooters into one of the colleges of Williamsport?

I don't know if these people think they are being tough or something, but they all need to be dealt with in a severe mannner. This country is so focused on not being racist, but who thinks that this is a bunch of white people doing this? Nobody.
