Here’s an example of what scares me about having the government in control of something like healthcare. If an insurance company denies coverage, you have the option to sue. If the government denies coverage, you can’t sue. You can appeal, but the government will decide.
Timbuck, isn't "government" in control of Medicare ? If government is SOOO bad at this healthcare thing.....why is it that every senior I know likes Medicare and does not want it changed ?

Would you rather have an appeal depend on a government employee paid the same wage, no matter how they decide that appeal, or a company employee who's bonus may depend on denying as many appeals as possible ?

(If you rely on a lawsuit to get a medical procedure approved...you would be long dead before a judge ever hears the case.....and then all that will be left is a monetary award for your heirs.....OOOPS.. I forgot, Republicans want tort reform so...there goes the monetary reward as well.)

The name is Chavez not Chevez...you might MISS some important info with a detail like that.

Venezuela’s opposition leaders have accused the government of President Hugo Chávez of launching a campaign of persecution aimed at stripping them of power since they won key posts in regional elections last year.
Many of the leftwing leader’s most high-profile opponents are either being investigated for corruption or subjected to new laws that restrict the exercise of their powers.
Antonio Ledezma, an anti-Chávez leader who was elected as mayor of Caracas last year, called his subordination to a new official to be handpicked by the president a “coup” against the constitution. Legislators loyal to the government passed a law last week creating a new official with administrative and budgetary control over Venezuela’s capital.
Analysts say Mr Chávez is using his control over state institutions to centralise power and emasculate his political opponents at a time when plunging oil revenues are pressing the government to cut spending as Venezuela slides into recession.
Manuel Rosales, the opposition candidate in the 2006 presidential elections who is facing corruption allegations, has gone into hiding, saying he would not get a fair trial. Meanwhile, General Raúl Baduel, an ally-turned critic of Mr Chávez, was arrested at gunpoint last week and imprisoned over corruption charges

Chavez is starving his own people!
Government take over of domestic food production is causing massive food shortages and thereby inflating cost to the point that only the wealthy "friends" of the corrupt government can afford to eat beef and chicken! Just like Jimmy Carters failed gasoline rationing of the 70's Chavez's rationing and government take overs are failing and causing more harm than any good!

Whomever gets the governor position needs to fix the mess that Haslam has created among teachers. I am a great teacher and I do NOT need to be evaluated 4 times a year for proof.

The November election will most certainly be a close one. This country is evenly divided and the presidency will most likely be decided by a small segment of voters in the center who have no alliegence to either party. The economy will play a role, and so will gas prices which COULD derail the Obama campaign and swing open the doors of 1600 to Mitt.
Still.....the trend for future Republican wins seems unlikely.
The nominating process in the GOP has managed to devolve into a slugfest filled with code, "certain neighborhoods" "lacking role models" "food stamp President", and lest we forget...Santorum's "blacks" quote which he changed to "blahhhs". With this nominating process, the GOP looks more like the party of George Wallace and Strom than Lincoln, which it would seem to me, will place blacks (African Americans for the PC crowd) more firmly than ever in the Democrat column.
They have done no better with the fastest growing segment of the American population, Hispanics. All of that demographic they can hope to hold is the Cubans, and they cling to the Republicans for one reason, an outdated Cuban policy.
They have lost environmentalists, with their constant drumb beat of deregulation, their denial of global warming, and a policy of domestic energy production at any cost.
Gays are firmly in the Dem's column and the heated rhetoric from the primary candidates regarding gay marriage assures they will not vote for a Republican, anytime soon, as public opinion swings away from the GOP position on gays.
A lot of college educated Americans must have to laugh at Republican rhetoric with their "world is flat and 6000 years old" idea. Scientists ??? what are they ?
Seniors who vote consistently in high numbers MUST be excited to place a person in the White House that supports an additional Medicare premium on them amounting to $6,000.00 a year, and ALL of the GOP candidates support the Ryan Budget passed out of the House.
Young college kids.....for them the Republican plans to trim Pell Grants and get govt out of the student loan business MUST be music to their ears.
Union members... the former Reagan Democrats... not a chance after a preview of the GOP ideas on unions in Wisconsin. Cont...

On Friday the Occupy movement protested the CPAC convention. As you know, Occupiers are very committed people, sleeping outside in the rain and snow for their cause:

http://dailycaller.com/2012/02/10/occupy-cpac...

They are also very intelligent, well informed, and open minded people:

cont.... Now we have an effort by the Republicans to turn contraception into a campaign issue using the opposition to an ACA provision of providing birth control to employees, by the Catholic Church. The Komen flap and the Planned Parenthood defunding position held by the Republicans.
These positions will have an effect on women voters, who use birth control ALMOST universally.

Who is ULTIMATELY left in the Republican column ? IF they do not change and adapt to a new reality in this country, they will end up a regional party of the Old South, and part of "flyover country" in the center of the nation.
Yes...ole Mitt can win this election on economic issues, and the GOP CAN adapt to new realities....but for now, they seem to be mired in the 1960's and somewhat to the right of Barry Goldwater

Hmm..."getting the deficit under control in a way that builds the economy...in a way that's consistent with American values so that everyone pays a fair share."
"President Obama's proposed 2013 budget will forecast a $901 billion deficit for next year, falling far short of his goal to halve the deficit in four years."

Wow. Imagine that. Something Obama pushes falling short.

"The budget, an outline of which was released by the White House Friday night, will show a higher deficit this year than in 2011, up from $1.3 trillion to $1.33 trillion."

A HIGHER deficit. Another surprise from Obama.

"In addition, the projected decline to $901 billion in 2013 is dependent on enactment of the president's policies, including spending reductions agreed to last summer and ending George W. Bush's tax cuts for the wealthy at the end of this year."

If we need to bring in money, why not end the Bush tax cuts all together?

G.M. is once again the number one car company in the world, surpassing Toyota. That should provide a reasonable chance for the taxpayers to recoup our money.
This is a success story, not only for the big 3 but for the USA. Let's compare this with the Wall Street Bank bailout and see which one was a better bet for average Americans. No ???? I thought not !

As for Obama, he may be playing along with Netanyahu and AIPAC because he understands their strategy. He knows that it isn't a war they want but the illusion of control.
But if Netanyahu gets Willard, Newt or Rick in November it will be no illusion. He will get someone to fight his war, the war he does not want to fight himself.
Petreus has been to iran and that country has not the knowledge or the ability to builg a nuclear weapon.

Presideny Obama is not a warmonger as the republicans ,but he is not afraid to fight if the USA needs to either ,Democrats are stronger then a coward republican as John McCain.

So FUNNY that when REPUBLICAN MITT ROMNEY was Governor he gave each citizen in mass health care in that state,
Then Obama looks at it with people who knows and President Obama wanted the same program for all American In the USA the same as Mass had, now Mitt and all of the Republican say that is bad,no good, illegal, and that it will stop the big checks insurance compnaies give republicans comngressman and senator each year so you and i pay a higher price for insurance and less and less Americans are doing without insurance..

you are aware I hope, that in the past, israel has already bombed nuclear reactors in iraq in 1981 and in syria in 2007 without any prior warning to either country. Of course, Netanyahu doesn't want a battle, but iran has repeatedly voiced a goal to wipe israel off the face of the earth. Israel's very survival depends on being PROactive. If they don't get negotiating power from the US and allies, they will handle the situation themselves which would be an even worse scenario in the long-run.

......yes, that "worse scenario" would be worst for the U.S., as Israel will still get massive aid, bombs, missles ect. even if our economy goes down the toilet.
