Ficano is promoting the new aero park in Romulus near the airport. If successful, it would bring a treasure trove of business to the county, much of it foreign investment. Meanwhile, Detroit resists the presence of such a park because they feel it would take business and resources from Detroit. Talk about fighting over cigarette butts on the sidewalk!!
Lately I had been forced to drive through many Detroit neighborhoods including my former one that I am very familiar with. Two things struck me. Most of the main streets are well paved. They must have gotten some funds from somewhere. Secondly, it looks like a ghost town. There were more than twice as many people there when I lived there. I thought I would feel unsafe, but there are so few people on the street that it seems safer then expected. I would still feel safer carrying a Glock, but the court building screens and I would never leave a weapon in the vehicle so I take my chances. |
