I dont mean to be rude but what with all these grants for the local airport all the time
(100,000 here , 50,000 there) why cant we get some grant money too!
Arent our youth just as important?
Who uses that damn airport anyway but a few in a click!

Thanks Granny! The attendance was less than great. But, that's ok. We really weren't expecting a big turn out since we only used topix as the way to get the idea out there. There are other avenues we plan to use in order to gain attention to this idea. Thanks for the good wishes!

Thank You Granny Smith, for the best wishes on our possible venture into creating something decent for the kids of Livingston/Overton County. It is a shame though to have to inform you that while everyone was full of enthusiasm in saying it was important to do this for our kids, and how it was such a wonderful project for us to do, only myself (and my husband) and Wishes showed up for the meeting. Everyone wants to complain, yet nobody wants to be part of the committee/solution.You cannot imagine the disappointment that was felt when after an hour and a half we decided to adjourn the meeting. Without community support, something of this nature cannot be addressed. If anyone would like to take a gander at our ideas or have any suggestions that might help get this off the ground, please contact Wishes or myself, and we will try to get something started, but without the help of the community, it will be just one more project sent down the drain without it even being started. If we can't be part of the solution, it leaves us to be part of the problem, just like its always been. I was really excited to think that there were actually going to be folks who shared the same thoughts as I did, but evidently, thats what they were.....JUST THOUGHTS!

Just today I was talking to a friend of mine who works at City Hall. He said zoning had been approved for a Water Park on HWY 70/Spring Street. I don't know the exact location. He said it was going to be Swimming, Go Carts, & Mini Golf. He didn't specify concerning the water but it'd be nice if they had waterslides too.

I hope it does well. I just hope the new owners have the capital that will be necessary to carry it through this first winter. No one will be riding go-karts in the cold rain.

This is great news! I sure hope it's successful. With 11,000 college students in Cookeville I can't help but think that something like this will be popular.

I just wish Cookeville had a nice skate park.

This forum is really no place for ground zero in getting something like this started.
You will have to get other people involved.
1. go to city counsel meetings
2. go to county court meetings
3. go to the various civic organization meetings
4. use free ads on public TV and radio for non profit advertising.

Hope this helps as this place is just for gossip mongers and the like. This is not a nice place,
good luck,

Countrypunkin, I will explain why I did not show up, my friend called me and told me her father passed away and I was at the funeral home in Celina. These ppl had been wonderful friends. Look at what type of ppl there are out in the world today. Granny Smith ask a simple question and they put those icons on. Think about this, when we were young and had so little, we at least grew up with respect for our elders, learned that working was to be. This world saddens me.

My condolences Wellaware, I am very sorry to hear of the sadness you are feeling. I certainly understand your absence and in no way hold that against you.My prayers to you and the family of your friend.
It wasn't you I was referring to in this situation. Its not you that complained there was nothing to do. How do those icons get on there? I am unfamiliar with what they mean. We are going to try to go a different way with the next meeting and hopefully will have a better turn-out. I didn't mean to be hateful in my last post, I was just disheartened. This too , in time, shall pass. I hope you have a wonderful day, and thanks for your interest in our endeavors.

You were in no way hateful. I just wanted you to know why I did not show. You are trying to do something GOOD for the community and you are to be commented.

Thank You Tiera, for stepping up and explaining the negative icons on the posts. This forum plays with you at times I believe! Maybe to keep comments going? Regardless, Thank You for your kind comments and its for people like you and yours that we are trying to make Livingston a family friendly environment. There will be another meeting soon for the Adventure Park...hope to see you there, we can use all the support we can get! Next meeting will be posted in the newspapers, so others will see it as well. Topix didn't seem to be the correct avenue for advertisement.
Thanks again!
Pat

I am sure Pat, there are alot of people who want to get involved, but don't want to be associated with TOPIX, because at a meeting related to TOPIX would ensure others that the only folks at the meeting were TOPIXS frequenters, thus making those wonder who is who. So we feel that the best way is to be an open meeting elsewhere, maybe the Chamber of Commerce might be a possibility? Anyone got any other good ideas of where to meet without making it look like someone is someone that they aren't?

Why not just post it in the paper? That is what most people read. Try telling it on WLIV. I know some people that would really get involved with it if it were more public.

Daily Horoscope for December 19

Aries

It's one of those days when you'd be wise to mind your Ps and Qs if you want to avoid putting both feet in it or feeling like a fool. The trouble is that you're finding it hard to think before you speak, and you're rushing into situations without thinking about the possible consequences. All you can do is to apologize and try your hardest not to let it happen again.
