skating rink in Livingston

The skating rinks open again for another season. I thank the owner for watching the kids as well as she can.I think it would be great if it was open 3 or 4 times a week, maybe a couple evenings for one age group and a couple for another. What you kids and parents suggest? Do you want her to sell?

Maxine is a true gem!i would trust her with my kids anytime, i know when they went to the skating rink that she always kept an eye on them and all the kids as best as she can, i've heard talk about a year ago that she wanted to sell but i dont know if it was true it was just hearsay to me. i hope she dont sell shes the best in my opinion. and she dont have no pets or favorites she treats all kids the same and just like they were hers and i really liked and admire that about her. my kids think of her just like another mother/grandmother figure they all love her. again maxine is a TRUE GEM! love her to pieces!

the skating rink is a fun place for the younger kids but it really could stand some improvements. I think Maxine is great too but I never understood why she don't sell refreshments and food and have tables set up to eat at. It really could stand to be updated. The bathrooms could stand an overhaul too. It would do nothing but make more money for her. I see lots of money potential with some minor upgrades and building improvements.

One other thing. I know a lot of birthday parties go on there. An extension on the building for a party room would be nice. There has never been enough room or a place to really set up the cake and drinks and things or a place to set down and eat them without having to hold their plates. I'm just being truthful about things needing done there and not trying to be mean.

There is an idea! Improve on something we already have! Are there any laborers out there that might could donate some time and maybe materials to help her get this rink up to par? And even after that, maybe some townsfolks could donate time to help run it and keep it up to a quality those around would be proud to say they "hang out" there? I am willing to donate time...what about anyone else? or do we even know if Maxine would accept the help if offered? might be an avenue for someone to check into. JMO

Thought about this for years. Could add on and put in a game room, make the rink a laser tag area, and add another room for general purposes such as food, tables, etc. Ah well. Stuff like that don't happen in Livingston.

They might if it was an updated arena

to many parents use her as a babysitter

it's mostly kids

I have been there several times, with groups and privately, and if there are adults there, they are usually skating as well with their kids. It could be a booming place once again with the right amount of effort on the citizens part. Ms. Maxine is just getting up in years and unable to do the upgrades that would enhance her rink. Her heart is totally in this rink and has been her livelyhood for years.

i would be interested in helping with some things//what kind of things did yo have in mind

Well first of all we would have to contact her and see if she would be willing to allow these upgrades to be made, shes a mighty proud woman, so thats the first objective, then we would go from there. Have you read the posts about the Adventure Park? That is where this all started, but it doesn't seem to have alot of support as yet, so I was thinking maybe enhance something we already have. Would be a great "Community Service" project for folks in trouble! JMO

6:30 pm - 9:30 pm Saturday nights and private parties by appointment.
