I was just at the ER tonight with my 14 year old. She was having bad back pain. Well, when we got there, it didnt take long to get back to a room, but once we got there, they took her vital stats. After that, nothing. The room was FREEZING so we asked for a blanket. One of the nurses said she would get one. AFter about half an hour NOTHING. So we asked again, but another nurse. She rolled her eyes, walked out, then a few minutes later walked in SLUNG a blanket at us, and said HERE, and walked out. Fast forward 3 hours, no one came in checked on her NOTHING.(should i mention that there was a couple people came after us , got seen and left in this time) So i go to find out what is wrong. I ask the doctor on call if they knew how much longer it was going to be before we got seen. HE said in a smartassed tone I DONT KNOW. I said in a normal, polite tone, "Sir we have been here over 3 hours" he looked at me and say IT MIGHT BE ANOTHER 3" so we left. I will be sure to call admin office and complain tomorrow.
What do you suppose that prick would have done if you had bitch slapped him?

Oh come on, all over back pain? More than likely there were critical patients there as well, ya know, that's why they call it an EMERGENCY room....and if you're pissed because she wasn't offered tylenol (which could've been given at home) or "pain meds" there is also family Dr offices that write prescriptions every day and I know of one that's open usually until 7:30pm and considering you called the nurse a fat bitch it was before 7pm when you were there. And by the way, if you were there 4 hrs waiting then it obviously wasn't an emergency!

You really think I would choose an ER over her family DR? Stupid much? I tried her Doctor first.... oh btw way she has a neurological disease so yes persistant pain with her COULD VERY WELL BE AN EMWRGENCY. as a matter of fact she is going today for an xray and full body MRI. Unless u knoe what you are talking about stfu

Everyone on here has their own opinions and we all know what they say bout opinions! When your in a really dire need of the er here…what ya gonna do? For one just because you had a bad day don't take out on everyone else! One nurse or one doctor does not define the hospital or er! Like it was stated in a previous post "If you don't like it go else where!"

Let me tell you one thing, When it comes to my child, and how they are treated when they are in PAIN by the people who are supposed to be there to help, YES I WILL FUCKING JUDGE. They never came in and even CHECKED on her in that 3 hours and something. Not even to see if she needed a Tylenol or something. AND GOT RUDE WHEN WE ASKED FOR A FUCKING BLANKET BECAUSE SHE WAS FREEZING. The fat bitch had time to sit there on her ass talking but she didnt have time to be A NURSE and take care of her patients? Dont give me that "walk a mile in their shoes" shit. If they can not handle the job, and do it the way it is supposed to be done, they need to find another career. Dont get me wrong, I have been there on other occasions, and had WONDERFUL nursing staff, and sometimes a good doctor two, but the nurses and the dr that was there last night, was a fucking JOKE. So I called the Patient Services Coordinator, today, and talked to her, she is filing a formal complaint against the Dr and The nurses with the head of the ER department, and the Head of nursing. I for one hope they get fired, or at least suspended WITHOUT PAY
Had you used this kind of language and displayed an attitude like this to me (and apparently this is your normal language) I would have left you sitting as well!!!!!! Treat with respect and receive respect!

Unless you know what all was going on in that Emergency Room then you shut up. Why didn't her family MD see her then? Because it was not an emergency!!!!!! Do us all a favor and go to CRMC from now on!

We were not trying to get pain meds. When your child has a neurological disease, and they start having severe pain up and down their spine, that could very well be an EMERGENCY. My child has neurofibromatosis. It causes tumors on nerve endings. Now, when she saw her dr the next day, he sent her for a full battery of tests. We are waiting on the results which she should get Monday. Now dont tell me that something like that is not an emergency. You try dealing with a child with a disease like this and tell me you dont get freaked out by things like that!

Small minded people like to assume the worst about everybody (like accusing you of wanting pills and using a child to do that). They must be talking from experience. I hate that you and your child had to go through this and it is a sad fact that it happens all the time at all of the hospitals and it just goes to show that most people these days are in the medical profession for the money and not in order to HELP others!

Exactly. NF is a serious medical condition, and at anytime can be life threatening. I think people like the small minded idiot should have to feel the pain that goes with it for just 24 hours. I have a constant headache, but do I take pain meds NO i use aleve or tylenol. Even though that just takes enough of the pain away to let me function, never takes it completely away. I have a 5mm tumor where my optical nerve meets my brain. To remove it would leave me completely blind in my left eye, but being that it is not growing, and hasnt for a few years I just deal with the pain. Better than being blind in one eye. I could easily get prescribed high power pain killers. A doctor has even offered me oxycodone. I did not want it. I want to expericence life, even though I may have to through a haze of pain. Better than walking around high constantly.

I agree and disagree...
Many times i have been in the ER and admitted to the hospital.
most times it has been a bad experience but some of the times it has been a good experience. All hospitals have good and bad doctors and nurses. I do remember one nurse that was so rude and plum mean to me when i was in so much pain and vomiting severely.
I have to say if i ever have to be back in the hospital - this bleached blonde will get a mouth full..........

WTF..people need to stop abusing the ER like it is a walk in clinic! Its not meant for that. Otherwise it would be called a Clinic, not ER! People clutter up the ER and complain when a true EMERGENCY is there, because they are ignored.

Emergencies are rated by the ABC's: 1. Airway - was her airway clear? Why yes it was. 2. Breathing:- Was she breathing? Why yes she was. 3. Circulation - Was her heart beating and circulating blood through her body? Why yes it was!!!!! Therefore, he situation was not life threatening at that time and others that were being seen that had life threatening conditions would take priority over her situation whether you like it or not. Sorry she was in pain, but that is not always a medical emergency! That is the only point I am trying to get across.

Try Satellite Med in C'ville. They are for URGENT CARE.
What you had was not an emergency and the staff knew it. They were busy handling true emergencies.

Or more people like that, that love to clutter up the ER instead of seeing their PCP.
