I wanted to say thank you to Mr. Ralph Green. A veteran of WWII. Mr. Green was wounded several times and was involved in numerous beach landings.
He was about to have a procedure at the Hospital and I asked him if he was nervous. I'll never forget what he said. He told me that he doesn't really get too nervous. The last time he had been really nervous was in Guam. A shell had hit close to where he and a group of soldiers were. He was blown unconscious. When he awoke, the Japanese were bayonetting and kicking bodies (to make sure the American soldiers were dead). He said that as they got closer to him, he closed his eyes and held his breath to fake death. He told me that he just knew they could hear his heart beating. A Japanese soldier kicked him square in the side and broke some of his ribs. He laid perfectly still and didn't dare even flinch. He told me he was pretty nervous then. The whole time he told me this, had a slight grin. I don't believe he was bragging or boasting. He was just sharing a time that he was truely nervous. America's Greatest Generation indeed. We have a lot to live up to. Thanks Mr. Green. This will inspire me my whole life. |

I would like to thank my Grandfather(AF WWII), my Father, sister, and brother-in-law (navy), Uncle, cousin, and brother (air force), for fighting for our freedom. I would also like to thank all of the armed forces for answering a call that no one can understand until they have done it themselves. THANK YOU
