Groth Bros CLOSED Forever

Groth Brothers has closed its doors for good. The company was driven into the ground by Robin Groth, after she man-handled the business from her brother Billy Groth.

So, now what happens with the land? I bet that Kamena and his cronies are drooling and see it as the opportunity they dreamed of to in-fill downtown Livermore. We all know what that means - Dublin / 580 type housing that is 4-5 stories tall. Oh, perhaps that would be a great place for all the section 8 (low income / trailer park trash)housing that Livermore wants to have.

Livermore-based Groth Brothers Chevrolet has closed its doors, ending operations for an auto dealer that had been in business since the Great Depression, according to Reidun Stromsheim, an attorney for the trustee in the dealer's Chapter 7 bankruptcy. Groth Chevrolet has $3.7 million in debts and $2.6 million in assets, court files show. In May, Groth filed to reorganize its debts under Chapter 11, but the dealer couldn't restructure. Founded in Livermore in 1934, the dealership had been a longtime downtown fixture.

Sad state of affairs. I heard Dick Groth has passed as well recently. My thoughts go to their family for the loss of a business and a loved one.

Wasn't that the proposed site of the new ampitheater as Groth was expected to move closer to the freeway?

No, the Lucky's site is the proposed location of the regional theater. We will not benefit anything from our land.

While I know nothing of "Throbbin Growth", that place is an eyesore. And charged my insurance company $2200 to fix a clip on my bumper.

It's Karma...they ripped me off once on a used car. I hope the family looses the property and never sees a penny from it.

The Groth's have not owned that property for a few years, they sold to a developer and have been renting it back.

Yes my friends this is Karma for many bad practices over the years. She tried many times to bamboozle me and failed everytime.

I will soon open dealership in Livermore but no way will I hire robin to work in my dealership. She is better suited for working overseas in one of my many brothels. I can see her now taking Cleveland steamers and giving rusty trombones. She will be shittier than ever. I WIN AGAIN!

I was wondering what had happened to Groth Bros. But it's no wonder....I wouldn't have bought even a USED car from that place. Didn't they also at least part own that dealership(if you could call it that)that was next to Palimoni's...a long time ago?

This is sad news, I used to work there and let me tell you that it was a horrible to work for Robin. She is a control freak, and if you have a brain she fires you. Exactly what happened to me. Her books were a complete mess and she had no idea what she was doing, and did everyone's job herself. I don't know why she even hired anyone. She had no accounting experience and couldn't even reconcile the bank statements, and had no idea of who owed them money, let alone pay any bills. I am sorry for her brother, he should have booted her to the curb and taken, maybe then they would still be in business. I bet her dad is turning over in his grave.

You have to be a real dipshit to lose money selling cars. Especially as an actual dealer that gets free money to order cars and display them on their lot, gets paid extravagant reimbursements for warranty work, etc. And if you have a decent used car business that doesn't hurt either.

I keep hearing that they've closed but every time I drive by there's a couple of lone cars out there with prices on them and the 'Used Cars' light is on.

I know a lot of people are nostalgic about it but it seems like the Groth Bros that everyone loved has been gone for a long time. It's in a prime time spot downtown and I hope they put something interesting there. Our downtown is filled with 'designer' clothing and knick-knack stores. Something along the lines of another bowling alley would be nice. Granada Bowl seems like one of the only things to do in Livermore and the rock gym is the worst I've ever been to.

But then again the lot will probably have the same fate as the Hollywood Video and Cranberries building downtown.
