What is with all the helicopter traffic over Livermore?

What kind of sneaky crap is the government up to now?
Helicopters constantly. I've counted over 100 overflights today, Friday April third.
That is a major airlift/personnel operation. You don't do 100 sorties for Medevacs. This has been going on all day long. Its now 1030 hours here and there is one hovering somewhere back west of Vasco and north of say, May School. I can hear it, there is actually more than one helo right now...sounds like at least 3.

OMG stop complaining jjj - is it REALLY that bad????? It's pretty cool! And if it's bothering you that bad....I think you need to move to another country....many people woudl be glad to have that kind of protection!

We have heard helicopters all evening flying over west Livermore actually right now. We have heard them flying in formations of at least two helicopters flying east to west over the gravel pits toward Pleasanton.

But that is only to be 9:00-1:00am, This has been going on all day around the Bay Area. They would not tell us what is going on in the paper. Suppose to be a secret maybe!:)

They're still flying over downtown Livermore at 11:30PM and have been since 8 or so. They're not using spotlights.

Whatever it is, the government deemed important enough to disturb the sleep of quiet law biding citizens.

Neat stuff... Just saw 4 fly by with no lights. Made my windows rattle...

Like I said in another feed, I have a four year old and a five month old who are sleeping just fine....put earplugs in! Would you rather be trying to sleep while terrorists are trying to bomb us and raid our homes? I think this is a small price to pay!!!

Nope... My 5 and 8 year old daughters are safe in bed thanks to the work they are doing up there... I can't thank them, enough. :-)

Ours just rattled too....near the golf course in springtown. I think it's really cool to see it during a peacful time here on American soil.

Sweet! At one point i counted six flying directly over my house near downtown! They have strips on the sides of a greenish glow. No other lights that that and a red flash. Totally kewl!!! I have never heard it before!

I kind of feel like I live in a war zone - but thanks to the guys and gals flying overhead - I don't! Sounds way cool, too! Nothing sneaky about it - it was in the paper today. God bless America!

Well what is "cool" about it? You're not one of those people who are impressed by things up in the air, or that make a lot of noise, are you? The monster truck crowd? The "gee, ain't it neat because its flying" people?

Most of all, there is no need for any protection, as there is no threat. If they want to protect us, why aren't they doing this stuff down on the border with Mexico where all the illegals are pouring into the country, along with an endless supply of drugs?

I didn't ask to be overflown with military helicopters. I wonder how the people in Iraq and Afghanistan feel about the "protection" we're giving them?

Ever think that maybe the best way to support our troops is to bring em home so they don't killed in vain, making the world safe for big oil and corporate interests?

Dublinmilitary exercise planned: The United States Marine Corps will conduct a military exercise from 9 p.m. today to 1 a.m. Saturday at Camp Parks Reserve Forces Training Area.
An expedition force from Camp Pendelton will arrive in helicopters from Fort Hunter Liggett in Monterey County to Camp Parks. The exercise includes 13 helicopters and an unspecified number of troops, who will be using blank rounds and star clusters (firecracker- like devices in the air) during the training, said Dan Gannod, the public affairs officer for Camp Parks.
Gannod said the exercise is designed to simulate long distance travel that Marines may experience from their operating base to an objective. The exercise will be contained to the Camp Parks area, but residents may hear the rounds and star clusters going off.
Camp Parks is the training area for the Army's 91st Division (Reserves) and is the only training facility within a short driving distance for 11,000 plus reservists in the San Francisco Bay Area. It was built during World War II and commissioned in 1943 as a Navy Base home to the Navy Seabees. In 1951, it was transferred to the US Air Force and transferred again in 1959 to the US Army.

Well, I had one very afraid babysitter tonight. I am glad for this web page. We were able to tell her all is well. We just got on our friends computer and looked this up. I just wish I saw it in the paper earlier. I would have prepared her for the noise and comotion.

So there's nothing to be worried about? It's not the noise itself that bothers me, but I was afraid there was some fugitive on the loose in the neighborhood ...
