I have always had excellent service on my car at Groth Brothers. They always seem to be busy too, so you must be in a small minority of people that might not like Groth. I would be happy to have Groth in their downtown location as long as they are able to stay there.

Lived in Livermore 30+ years never heard a good thing about them. I myself have never dealt with them, all the people I know that have done buissness with them are young people who want a car, go there buy some car they can't afford and the car ends up being a hunk of junk that has no real warranty.

Had our 2000 C5 Corvette towed there TWICE in the past month for service. This car has been babied, it's beautiful and has 53k miles on it. Apparently there is a recall on this car that locks the steering column AND cuts the fuel, perfect. I was never notified and this thing just popped up one day without warning. The 2nd time it happened [mind you 2 weeks after the first go round] I asked Groth to pay for the towing. NO deal. They did the same 'fix' again and told us that 'it will probably happen again.' NICE. Filed a complaint with GM. GM told me that the car 'has made it 10 years so I should be happy.'[uh, it has 53k miles over 10 years dude and this is Chevy's most expensive car made...] Turns out Groth told the GM rep that our issues isn't tied to the recall, that they 'fixed the recall issue of the steering locking. If we want the digital warning to go away and the fuel not to shut off when the warning decides to appear, we have to pay $575 parts and labor for that fix.' Hum.... if there is a problem, and the 'fix' you do doesn't work; maybe that isn't the 'fix'? My husband asked the service manager from Groth to sell us the parts at cost. No deal. We have owned 5 GM cars/trucks. We'll never buy another GM product and we will NEVER go to Groth EVER again. GROTH BROTHERS SUCKS.

A few months ago I was looking to buy the new Camaro. I tried to buy it at Groth because I always try to support local businesses whenever possible. I walked in, wearing my old martial arts pants and an old t-shirt, and walked into their showroom. There were no customers, but three employees chatting about whatever. Nobody came up to me and asked if I needed any help. I finally go up to them and say "hey, I'm looking to buy the new Camaro," and told him the precise one I was looking to buy (the Transformers model, I'm a dork, I know). One of them looks at me, says "we only have this one right now, but we'll get more next week some time," not even asking if I wanted to order one, which I assumed I would have to do anyway. I don't know if they looked at the way I was dressed and figured I was full of it or what, but yeah, pretty underwhelming. So I immediately left, drove over to the Chevy in Dublin (they used to be Crown Chevy I think?). A salesman named Keith immediately approached me, and without being pushy or anything, asked if he could be of help. I told him the same thing I told the guys at Groth. He explained how I would be best served to order it, and suggested test driving an identical model that simply wasn't the same color scheme. I did, loved it, and left a deposit for the car right then and there. So yeah, needless to say, I was not impressed with Groth. I went in there, checkbook in hand, ready to write them a check. The easiest sale any of them could have ever had, and they simply blew it.

We just bought a Tahoe there for the opposite reason. We were in Dublin due to their $10,000 off ad (which is a scam, oldest trick in the book) and of course they didn't offer that discount on all models, ect. Even so, we tried to do the deal there and by the time I got to finance they had changed the figures again, tried to add a warranty we didn't want and some accessories we never asked for. I was pissed and told my wife we were out of there. Drove to Groth who had a similar model and did the deal there in no time at all. No games, no gimmicks. The salesguy Joe was really cool, down to earth. I brought what I wanted, got good financing and did it all without any problems.

I brought my car in twice. Horrible service both times. I tried 7 times to bring my car in for an oil change. They never had time, didn't answer the phone or twice I was told to try and come by but there was other cars in front of me so I would need to leave it for a couple of hours and they couldn't guarantee they would even be able to do! They also won't give you a ride to work (in town). I will be going somewhere else, just irritating that I can't get my car serviced close to home.

LMAO... So inspired by this topic here, I decided to send Groth an e-mail a couple days ago, pretty much cut and pasated from my above post. The response I got back: "Thank you for your interest in the new Camaro. We look forward to your business and serving you." It then goes on to talk about the specs of the Camaro. Nice to see they take customer complaints so seriously.

Well, my husband did a ton of research re: this issue and found out that a low battery [these cars usually aren't daily drivers] can trigger the digital warning we were getting [after Groth did the recall campaign twice]. He put in a new battery <$100 and the error went away. AMAZING. AND he got a promise from the new Chevy dealer in Pleasanton that IF we have problems again with the locking column or display THEY will handle the $600 fix under CUSTOMER GOODWILL. Pack sand Groth. You guys suck.

The service at Groth sucks. I had a broken sunroof that they claimed to have fixed and 1 week later, it broke again. They said because it was just out of warranty, they could not fix it again. They even started the work without my approval. I called them to find out what was going on and they said it was half way done. I didn't tell them to do the work yet, so they lowered the price a little, but not enough for the crap I ended up with. This place is horrible and tacky. I will drive all the way out to Tracy next time I need service. They keep calling me with specials too. Hell No! I will walk before I let them touch my car again.
