Stop the Livermore Airport Expansion

Our wonderful community leaders have been working under the covers for years attempting to turn the municipal Livermore airport into another 400 acre depot similar to Oakland International.

Wonder why the outlets that were announced years ago aren't sitting there? Because that was the smokescreen used to detract the general public from what is really going on.

Did you read the letter by the mayor published in the June 18th Independent? He said specifically that the purpose of the airport rezoning is to constain airport development to a level BELOW what is allowed by the 1975 airport Master Plan.

There have been statements made recently that the City of Livermore is considering an expansion to the Livermore Airport. I want to assure you that this is simply not the case.

The purpose of the rezoning is to address community concerns about development at the Airport by constraining future development to a level LESS than that allowed by under the 1975 Airport Master Plan.

Really? You're going to use blatant lies to further your "cause"?

The reason there aren't outlet malls there now is because of the law suits initiated by the quarry and the driving range owners. Those suits have been settled and development is scheduled to proceed.

There aren't 400 available acres at the airport. Do you just spew any convenient lie you can think of just to serve your purpose?

I don't have a lot of sympathy for people upset about the airport. The airport was there many, many years before you decided live there. The airport was disclosed in your real estate documents.

I assume that most people living around the airport are ok with that. They made an informed choice.

You missed the point he was trying to make...They plan to EXPAND Livermore airport...that will affect all Livermore residents..and the people who live closest to the airport believed it was and would stay the small aircraft commuter and recreational airport it is..Not an airport allowing jets from FedX and UPS etc land and go through our relatively quiet airspace..Our air quality is already disasterous on hot days.Drive from Castro Valley and you can see the yellow fog that engulfs Livermore..add planes and that gets worse for all residents...This is a huge issue..you should think about what you want

& we are in the VALLEY! when fog comes it lingers in the valleey, & i drive from cv to L all the time & you must be seeing shit =)

Snafu has a point. I have lived near the airport for 28 years now and the smaller air crafts do not bother me. I would be bothered by bigger louder and more pollutant air crafts flying over my home. I do not think the expansion is a good idea.

As far as the airport now, it if just fine.

They should bring the air shows back though!

I don't think you have to worry about a FedEx hub in Livermore for at least 75 years! Maybe then the ecenomics and population would support that ridiculous idea.

Joe, What about the small private jets? Are they bothersome?

I'm just worried about okaying anything more for the airport. Once you open the door, they will want more. That is how everything works. You give someone an inch and they take a mile. The Cessna planes do not bother me, but I also do not want bigger loader planes or jets coming over my home.

KLVK - Why does Livermore need to expand the airport anyways? Just curious...

Private Jets already fly in everyday ..This an airport already you idiots what harm is it going to do to you people just another reason for you unhappy people to have something to compalin about ..having the exapansion will be great for the community and convinient for jet owners to have a fuel center and hanger that can support to house jets other than Bucchanan ..so go bitch about some other issue becuse we dont want to hear it anymore

I'm generally a pro growth kind of guy. I like new shiny things. New business, thiving economy, all that sort of stuff. I don't side with the Livermorons who lament how things were 50 years ago.(I don't know if that's you Joe B or not). I've only lived here 10 years and I think the progress made in that time has been tremendous. The developer of Prime Outlets say they're still committed to the project and I'm looking forward to that.

I support city growth, not just housing and new business. I just do not want more or louder planes flying over my house. I like it the way it is now.

As far as new outlet centers around the airport, I have mixed feelings.

1. They better be nice and a business I care to go to. There are already too many businesses in Livermore that cater to one type of person or crowd. We also have the outlet mall off of Greenville road that has no businesses. Start there...

2. The business expansion around the airport is what is keeping the airshows from being at the airport. They are saying all of the businesses would have to be closed with no people in them to be safe for the airshow. No business is going to close down for a weekend.
