Those of us who have suffered under the city's inaction for years have never been able to fully answer that question.

Tha Ann Street has gone out to bid within the last month.

Good point Duh, The other bridge has much lower standards and will have very little use. We as a city should of closed the Ann St bridge years ago. Force the states hand in helping. especially before residents moved in. a foot bridge to the canal and moss island would of been enough

It is a private bridge hence much cheaper to build and not approved for public access.I suppose they could put in a credit card swipe and charge mega bucks to use. National Grid also needs access to Mohawk St.The have given monies toward the cost of the new Ann Street bridge.

The only way I see that occurring is through flood damage. So far the bridge has not qualified for that either.

You tear down the Ann Street bridge and the end result will be another pile of rubble in the City, no bridge, nothing else. Those on the Council who will vote on this need to be fully aware of what they are actually voting on. Building rubble piles is all this City adminstration can do. Don't kid yourself.

Little Falls has chosen not to have a Master Plan, therefore it does not get the State funding that it would if it decided to write a Master Plan.

The state does not help cities replace their own bridges especially one with little traffic. It was the cities responsibility to maintain the Ann Street bridge. Because the prior administration did not we are now looking as new bridge vs. repairing. There was a meeting with both feds and state agencies along with Bulter, Steward, Acuri, NG and the hydroplant 3 years ago and the city was told there was no money to help. There is a waterfront master plan and Ann Street bridge is included in that plan.

The bridge was originally going to be 40 ton for the hydro plant to be able to bring their equipment over it. They declined and wanted to build their own bridge. The city then changed to the 20 ton as the extra weight was not needed and was cheaper for the tax payers. The hydro plant never offered to give monies. They chose to build their own and have it in a secure location.

Another fact is that a bunch of idiots who cannot even demolish a house cannot build a bridge. So, it meant that if you need a bridge, you cannot partner with the City, because the bridge would never get built. So, you must build one yourself. Common sense.

Can you imagine the reaction of an individual to having the current Mayor of Little Falls asking them if they wanted to partner up to build a bridge? You'd have to bite your lip so hard it would bleed, and as soon as he was gone, you'd laugh until it hurt.

Educate yourself on bridge construction and how it's done. That would not be a concerned of Burrows. Concerns for them are security driven hence having a security fence and a gate install on their new bridge before crossing.
