Do not join this gym. The general manager is a crook and the companie's business practices are shady. They'll say they are opening up one month and then push back the opening date, nothing they promise in regard to classes is true, and the women's only area is a sham. Beware!

The sales person told me that I wouldn't be billed until the gym opened and they have already started drafting my account. Customer service is pretty much nonexistent. They told me that there was nothing that they can do. Ridiculous!

I dont see why you would in the 1st place like Ace said just run and what not you dont need to join or spend a lot of cash and esp. travel and such to work out like that.

I felt that Peak Fitness only peaked its interest when the annoucement of 24 Hour got their building uptown.

Peak Fitness is taking a long time to get built and yes I do feel its a rip off but I could of told you that with out even signing up.

At 1st I thought maybe Peak Fitness wanted to wait till 24 Hour to open so they could go head to head now I just figured they wanna get as much money as they can before they open and then pack up and leave.

Chances are any Fitness place will not last that long in Lincolnton.

This place is a scam, the manager there is a used car salesman who will call you every day of the week for atleast 2 months if you don't go in there and sign up. They lie about when the gym is going to open, which will probably be in January and obviously not July like was promised. I have had 2 payments come out even though I was told it wouldn't and now they won't let me out of my contract. If somebody named Steve or Steven calls from Peak Fitness, tell him to STOP calling and hang up. Oh and they also run promotions and promise to give away gift certificate, like they did in Food Lion, and never even buy the 100 gift card. Stay away from Peak they are scam artists!!!

This gym is going to be GREAT!!! I am moving right outside of Lincolnton in High Shoals and have signed up and can't wait for it to open!!! I don't know about the managers, but the girl I signed up with was super nice. I know it will be worth the wait :)

*** Let me clarify my comment, I was talking about 2 different gyms, the one in CH that I USED to work out at continued to charge me after I LEFT. They said it was because of a mistake in their billing system and I also had to give 60 days written notice, so they aren't letting me out of my contract right now, which sucks. My friend signed up in Lincolnton and I was getting calls all the time even though I don't even live there. CH is a nice gym, just not cool with the cancellation stuff

I am speaking from experience. I have worked in gyms in the past (a long time ago) and have been working out for many years. I have signed many contracts at different gyms and any place that you pay monthly on and want to get out of the contract or end the contract most times requires a written or verbal notice....especially if it is before the contract is up. Read the small print. They told you, but you didn't read everything on the contract. I had to give a 2 week notice letter to the daycare my kids attended!!!
People use gyms for many reasons: To better their health, learn and experience a healthier lifestyle the right way, socializing, build self esteem, etc. A gym is there to get what you want out of it, but most people are dissatisfied because they don't get the results they want because they don't take advantage of the resources available to them that is there at the gym, there aren't enough classes, etc. Everyone can't be satisfied no matter what type of gym, store, etc that is being offered.
Examine your health and body goals and decide if a gym is for you. It can serve a big purpose to someone that is dedicated and ready to either continue to be healthy or to get healthy. Exercising helps with mood, hormone imbalance, rids the body of many toxins, bone density, muscle strength and growth, metabolism, etc. The gym is like church sort of. The more you are around people that preach the gospel you are more than likely to keep up with the gospel...the more you are around people who exercise you are more likely to make new challenges, and continue to strive to be better and healthier physically and mentally.
If you don't like the gym environment, put one in your house and stop complaining!

i agree with 'fitness mommy'- "the gym is like church sort of".... because most people think that they can pay their way into heaven, like paying their way into good health. heaven and good health are both a state of mind and a way of life - whether peak fitness or the church institution, both are designed to belittle you, in order to make their services profitable or prophetable..... wake up. smell the deceit....

I used to work for a peak fitness. you won't be billed after your contract is up. They have an automatic renewal meaning you can continue at the rate you signed up originally after your agreement is up, and you can cancel at anytime after that. I'm sure there may have been individual cases. I think most of the people that post on here have never actually set foot in any peak fitness. Form an opinion yourself and don't rely on what other people are saying on here. came across this posting and I think it is ridiculous some of the things that have been written.

Lah, I say this to you.

Lincoln County is small but growing. We only have one retail store that common folk can shop at which is Walmart sure we have Belk but thats for the old fogies who think its fashionable and rich to shop at Belk. We also have Goodwill which is the complete opposite yet some how totally the same as Belk.

Then we have fast food resturants galore. We had TWO Burger Kings at once. BoJangles and KFC have recently been rebuilt to a larger building so they can fit more people in. Most we have a few main staples in the japanse/chinese resturants but most NEW foreign eating places die within the 1st year.

We have row after row of Banks. We have Banks built ontop of other Banks. We have banks beside banks facing banks behind another bank! We have a new bank built where someones house once stand.

Lincolnton is no where near the hype puts it. Anyone who is Pro Lincolnton is probably someone who has enough money to put in all these banks and they want to keep this small town small and safe.

Where as the real members of this community have to travel 30 mins up to an hour a day to work at a job they hate and spend all their money on Gas they cant afford.

So where does this put everything and everyone?

Well...someone has the smart idea to build a new shopping center...ancor by...Zaxbys! Yes another fast food place yes another chicken place in a town that is OWNED by BoJangle's and KFC. No one actually eats at this Zaxbys but hey its a start...lets build a big nice building behind it.

You know Retail something this town needs oh but wait a Japanese Resturant wants to move in well thats fine these Southern people LOVE Japanese and other foriegn foods. Okay well whats next how about a Nail Salon? You mean like the one in Walmart? YES! You mean like the one down the street from Walmart? YES! Okay I AM FOR IT! hmm what else can we do...oh whats this a GYM wants to move in???? Well with all these Fast Food Resturants around town we need a GYM to work off all our weight we have gained its a perfect idea. Hey and while you are act it lets build an autoparts store beside Zaxby's as another ancor store...but isnt AutoZone on the other side? Yeah...so?...But isnt there another Autoparts in front of that?...Yeah...and? But isnt there a NAPA right there in the same spot where you want to build this Auto Parts place? And your point is?...YOU are RIGHT TO HELL with the people of lincolnton BUILD ANOTHER AUTO PARTS STORE THEY WILL LOVE IT!!!

So....24 Fitness decides to annouce they will be moving to lincolnton...at this point on the other side of town someone is looking at an old WinnDixie building that has been empty for years thats behind two banks next to a school for trouble makers next to a drug store and a tax place this appears to be THE best spot to place a rival company to 24 Fitness.

Peak Fitness puts up a sign or two...repaints the building a horrid color that is already peeling because of the cheap paint...its starting to look like a flip job gone wrong. Lets give out flyers and send people spam in their mailboxs at home of a postcard of a layout for this gym...these people have no clue what we can fit in here or not they will believe anything we tell them.

Hey...sign UP early and get a discount....so since you are a member of this gym that means you have to pay a monthy fee...but wait...OUR gym isnt even OPEN yet...lets make promises that we can't keep. Lets make deadlines that we dont meet.

Oh yes...Lah...Peak Fitness is a real diamond in the rough. It will do wonders for a town like lincolnton.

Peak Fitness Lincolnton has not billed any person that has signed up at this location and will not until the club opens, this is a state law.

Next time you want to post a comment, at least use your real name, don't represent someone else, that is shady. I will personally appologize to everybody for the club being pushed back, we have had delays but we are progressing now. Please feel free to stop by the club for an Open House on Oct. 3 and judge for yourselves. If you have any concerns please feel free to email me at dkeller@peakfitnessus.com

haha, So I have noticed a lot of people judged my comment calling it clueless, nuts or disagree and thats all good and well but no one actually pointed out how I was wrong or nuts or whatever.

If you live in Lincoln County. I am not talking about East Lincoln or West. I am not talking about Lake Norman or Denver or whatever.

I am talking about Lincoln County. The strip of road from BBQ King to The Courthouse.

You will find Nothing but Banks. Nothing but Gas Stations. Nothing but Fast Food Resturants.

If you are fine with this then thats okay but most younger people of the town have to move out of state to get a decent job. Most people in general have to spend their hard earned money on gas to travel to their job and still live in Lincolnton.

Maybe you judged it the way you did because it was a soild rant about nothing having to do with anything about this Peak Fitness. That I understand. But I needed some place to posted the rant but apparently no one cares.

Just a question...are any of you are even going to work out? Or will it just be a status symbol? Oh yes I go to the gym...I rule...I am cool...I am better than you. When really you just go out and buy 1500 dollar sweatsuit and you just walk around with a bottle of water checking out the younger people in that creepy way that you do.

If you actually live in Lincoln County...you agree with me. If you do live here and you dont agree chances are you either make too much money you know what to do with or you rather go to Hickory or the big city to do all your shopping and your work if any.

Thanks for the judges though because maybe that means you atleast READ it...because if you did and you honestly disagree maybe your life is just better than mine if you think I am nuts hey I might take that as a good thing.

Daily Horoscope for December 26

Aquarius

If you're still happily munching chocolates and all sorts of other goodies, you'll have to take yourself in hand at some point during the coming fortnight. Maybe you'll have to compensate for all the festive over-eating by taking more exercise or cutting back on the calories, or perhaps you'll decide that you can't delay giving up smoking any longer. As Mercury turns in your twelfth house of secrets, messages you receive at this time may be very subtle or contain hidden meanings meant only for your understanding.
