Teachers Arraigned on Assault Charges

A Cole Camp R-1 Grade School teacher and a Lone Jack 6th grade Sciece teacher were arraigned on assault charges in front of Judge Mark Pilley in Warsaw,Missouri on Tuesday, July 7th. Abby Massingill of Cole Camp and Ashley Alumbaugh of Lake Tappawingo were represented by attorney James Kjar who entered pleas of not guilty on their behalf. Also arraigned in the same case were David Massingill and Reggie Hout of Cole Camp and Ryan Alumbaugh of Lake Tapawingo. David Massengill is accused of assaulting Joe Luetjen, Tom Schroeder, and his wife Jiniwin Schroeder. According to statements from witnesses David Massingill allegedly grabbed Jiniwin Schroeder by the hair on the back of her head and beat her in the back of the head with his fist. Joe Luetjen allegedly was struck in the face with fists and lost a tooth. Tom Schroeder allegedly was beaten with fists in the head and face by all 3 men at the same time while he was being held down. Prior to the alleged 3 on 1 attack David Massingill allegedly grabbed Tom Schroeder's thumb bending it backwards tearing the gamekeeper ligament in Schroeder's right thumb causing permanent injury. Witness statements also allege that Abby Massingill and Ashley Alumbaugh assaulted Jiniwin Schroeder. A witness statement alleges that Abby Massingill hit Jiniwin Schroeder in the face with her fist while Ashley Alumbaugh allegedly assaulted Jiniwin Schroeder by pulling her to the ground by her hair while she was allegedly being assaulted by both David and Abby Massengill. Ryan Alumbaugh is alleged to have picked up a table and used it as a weapon to strike Tom Schroeder. The three men are also being charged with destruction of property for allegedly tearing up the business where the alleged assault took place resulting in 100's of dollars worth of damage to tables, chairs, and a shuffle board table. The defendants are due back in court on August 11th at the Benton County Courthouse in Warsaw, Missouri.

Obviously who wrote this got a one sided constricted account of what really happened and what is really being charged!! Take it from me I was there that night as an innocent bystander!! Tom S. initiated this fight along with his wife Jiniwin. The part where Jiniwin was attacked by three people including a male, David M. is so false. Jiniwin actually attacked Abby M. pushing and pulling her hair. Abby's sister Ashley was tring to break Jiniwin free from her sister when Jiniwin pushed both of them to the floor. David M. then came over to help break Jiniwin from his wife and sister-in-law along with other people there. Tom and Jiniwin are trying to play the victims in this whole mess that they started. Tom repeatedly was harassing people by blowing a horn in their face and was told several times to stop. Honestly if the bar was doing their job and following the law, Tom and Jiniwin would have been made to leave the bar because they had their young kids there. In my view Tom is a town bully and always is causing trouble with someone, just happens that this time he messed with someone that stood up to him!! However, he has continued to bully witnesses and make threats because deep down he knows that he created this mess. Everyone needs to know that there are charges on both sides and no one has been charged with anything yet!!

truth teller evidentually wouldn't know the truth if it grabbed them by the hair and hit them in the back of the head. what a joke. good try though. i guess thats how you justify an assault of this nature, just lie about. there have been charges filed. they were read in court last tuesday. there were more victims than just the schroeder's. how about joe and bob and shirley. what is reggie on probation in kansas city for. i hope it wasn't a chiefs fan you picked on. call the kcmo court and ask for mr. coe. maybe he can enlighten you. what about the incident last friday with wegggie picking on a 55 year old man, chasing him down the highway at 80 plus mph. grow up there wedgie. and then the fact that these two women are allowed to still teach our children. after all the scandals the benton county r-1 district has had in the past several years, what are they thinking? i hear it takes a half a year to get the third graders that have come out of fl abby's class to catch up with the other second grade class. didn't weg get arrested in sedalia for destruction of property or was that a misprint in the sedalia democrat. i'll get back later with a date and the transcript from the police report. ifrom what i've read the report from cub reporter is whats in the probable cause statements. i don't think tom and jiniwin have been charged with anything. tell me lies tell me sweet little lies.

hey truth teller, police have spent 6 months gathering witness statements on this case. i hope you cooperated. what you say you saw happened doesn't agree with what is in the probable cause statements. maybe your vision was blurred or something or maybe you have tunnel vision.
the charges against the defendants were filed in the municipal division of the circuit court of benton county missouri on june 18, 2009. the court records are public info maybe you ask to see them.
for your information the cole camp inn is a "Community Safety Net" for children. an official sign stating this is posted in a window at the front door and by the cash register. it is no less safe in there than it is in the red baron or at 4k for that matter.
the red baron is a lounge, deli, and arcade that sell mixed drinks, beer, wine, food, soda pop, and has an arcade in the rear for the kids. they also play texas holdem poker there. its a place to go out to eat or just have drinks. i've seen our grade school principal and school superintendent in there. last winter there was an alleged brass knuckles fight over gambling on a pool game but i still consider a safe place for kids. 4k sells beer, wine, soda pop, cheese, meats, crackers,plus food a couple nights a week. our police chief has been seen there many times. i've heard reggie has been kicked out of 4k for causing trouble but when hes not there its a safe place to be.
in the cole camp inn that night there were school teachers,a school board member,a school secratary, our fire chief, many firemen, a day care operator, county road employees, and a lot of moms and dads. it was a safe place to be until the Hout bunch came in. had tom and jiniwin known how violent they were i'm sure they would have left the minute they came in.

Was not there so I cannot comment on what happen in detail. on Good to Know-you said Tom and Jiniwin would have left if they knew how violent they were-false-Tom knows Reggie as well has the rest of that family-Tom just forgot he was not as young as he used to be. If Reggie has problems with the law I am sure that will come out in court. I think Tom has had a few run ins with the law, but I don't have to air his misdeeds on topix. I have known both of these families all of my life and Tom is not a bully. Those of you who think so do not really know the man. I don't know who did what or why at the bar, but the truth will come out. I just know that Tom has done more wonderful things for this community, then he has bad. You are correct, Tom is a father..whether or not is a good or bad father is not for me to decide, however his actions speek very loudly. And I also agree insults do not help anyone. Tom is has done more for our little ole community then the Massingills, Alumbaughs, and Houts combined.
He's a good hearted person whether anyone likes it or not.

And what is really sad is that most people dont really know anything about the incident at hand, only the witnesses do. I truly dont either, to tell you the truth. But both sides did things wrong that night...

Seriously, Tom trespassed in my yard last year and molested my dog. He filmed the whole thing with a camera phone. Sick bastard. Then he had the audacity to ask me if he could drill my well. However, he did give me a good hookup with some bomb weed so i totally recommend him to anyone.

To "Nadine Henery": I'm curious as to who you. It's obvious whose camp you're in. I searched your identity on the Internet and the only thing that comes up is a new account on Facebook that says "Nadine has no friends." As for your post above that advocates and promotes justifiable assault and battery for reasons as minor as you state such as parents taking their children with them to a family pub to celebrate New Years Eve OR was it for blowing a party horn too long? OR blowing horn too loud?(You and your friends need to get their story straight.) With your attitude next time it'll be okay to assault someone because you don't like their hair style or before long you'll want to slap around and pull out all the hair of someone because of skin color, sexual orientation, or religious affiliation. When I grew up there, Cole Camp was small town USA where we took pride in not having to lock our doors or cars. We helped our neighbors, and were able to say we had decent establishments where parents could take their kids along. Sounds like since January 1st all that changed. They probably lock their doors now, take the keys out of their cars, and steer clear of people who like to slap faces and pull hair. They don't have a theater anymore, no bowling alley or mall. Is the skating rink still open? Whiskey and beer is served at the only arcade in town. I'm sure most of the parents in town don't rely on dumping the kids off at Grammy's free babysitting service so they can go out causing trouble. Last time I was in town, I ate at the Red Baron. I saw your friends getting a good dose of their "family time" there. You know a rose by any other name...I guess if the hame doesn't imply "bar" then it's your right to think it's not a bar. The Safety Net sign hangs by the calendar that tells you can't buy alcohol or cigarettes if born after a certain date. Some nights it is the only business open uptown. If young people shouldn't be allowed in, why is there a need for the calendar? Maybe you should run for the open Senate seat or better yet, Governor, and then get a law passed to prohibit kids in places where alcohol is served. Period. It’s amazing how two people can be assaulted by five people in a bar and it’s their fault because their kids were with them. It’s also amazing to me that this is the only defense the Hout, Massingill and Alumbaugh families have for their actions (and most everyone else for that matter). Bully, wife beater, alcoholic, drug dealer or not...no one has the right to lay their hands on someone else. It’s the law!

Just to add some insight…I have heard people speak of Tom’s character and alleged history of domestic violence but not one time have I heard anything said regarding David and Abby Massingill’s history of domestic violence. It is my understanding that the police have been called to their residence on multiple occasions for domestic related incidence. As a member of the community I can confirm seeing black eyes and various bruises on Abby multiple times throughout their marriage. Does this make Abby the victim…absolutely not! She’s not a victim because she lies to protect him. She is just as crazy as he is as far as that goes. And the sad thing is…her family all knows that he does it and they continue to lie about his actions and cover up for him.

It is also my understanding that Mr. Massingill has a history of domestic violence with his previous wife and children. I believe that this ultimately ended in a divorce with an Order of Protection for her and the children.

In addition, I don’t believe anyone should allege any neglect on behalf of Mr. and Mrs. Schroeder until they also look into the Massingill family a little further. I have personally witnessed Mr. Massingill’s children in the Beer Gardens during the Cole Camp Fair. I have also witnessed them with their children in the Red Baron and at the 4K while consuming alcohol. Someone should look into how many times this father and 2nd grade teacher have been reported for child abuse as well. What I’m getting at is…maybe Tom Schroeder is a lot of things but he’s nothing better than the rest of them. The difference is he just isn’t as good at covering it up and being fake.

I just believe that the Hout family has covered up and protected their children to the point they feel as though they are invincible. No one is above the law and I believe this time maybe the Hout, Massingill and Alumbaugh families have messed with the wrong person. Bottom line - how many times can they be the victims in a situation? It seems to me like someone is always picking on them.

One last thing...I wouldn’t want any teacher that out of control of her life to spend seven hours a day with my child trying to mold and shape them for my future. This is why my children now attend a private elementary school. Because last I checked our children come first, not a teacher who is willing to put everything at risk by getting into a drunken bar room brawl (her fault or not).

Hopefully justice will be serviced and accountability will be had for all.

It doesn't matter where you send your kids, not every teacher is going to be perfect. NOBODY IS PERFECT. As much as you want to make Cole Camp seem like this utopian society where nothing goes wrong the fact of the matter is that it's just like every other town in the country. If you don't believe me... look at the horrible crime that just occurred. As long as a teacher is explaining math,english, history, or science...... who cares about what they do in their spare time.
