Ok, I don't really care if same sex people get married or are together in any capacity. I am for equal rights BUT.......... I am very annoyed that peoples votes don't mean anything anymore. What happened to a majority vote rules? What happened to the peoples voice?

My stance on this has nothing to do with same sex couples. This is just the latest thing a court has overturned or blocked that THE PEOPLE voted for. Look at AZ., look back at prop. 187 which would have saved is billions in illegal immigrant funding. The people of the USA are trying to make changes to better our country and the few judges are effectively disenfranchising us.
Again this is not directed at same sex couples it is major frustration over the majority loosing there voice.

WHY VOTE????

The ballot proposition system should not exist as it is in violation of how the country was established. The United States is a representative republic, not a democracy. We elect representatives to act on our behalf. If we disagree with them, we vote them out. The ballot proposition system is closer to true democracy as the majority decides.

In this case, a ballot measure attempted to define marriage. The voters approved the measure by a slim 52% majority. Now, a federal judge has ruled the measure unconstitutional. The appeals process will begin, first in the 9th circuit federal court and then, if they decide to hear the case, the U.S. supreme court.

This journey has only begun...

There it is. It will now go to the next level in the Federal Court System. Eventually it will be decided in the US Supreme Court. So sit back, relax, have a cold beer and watch the war of words continue. This issue will not be decided at the ballot box or on these forums. The judges will decide it and we will abide.

...by the way,

A bit of congratulations should go out to David Boies and Ted Olsen, the attorneys that prevailed in this round. You may remember them from a little SCOTUS case back in 2000, they were on opposing sides in Bush v. Gore. What a team!

The majority of the voters in California, voted for the ban on same sex marriage.

Then some liberal, left wing judge, from the 9th Circuit Court decides to strike it down.

Wrong - Wrong - Wrong. GOD IS GONNA CUT YOU DOWN!!!!!!!!!!

He's a republican appointed by Ronald Reagan actually.

I really don't mind breaking this to you, but the "voters" simply do not have a right to violate the constitutional right of others, no matter how much of a majority you can swing at the polls.

You also seem to have one rather obvious nut up that tree too... As for your "light in the loafers relatives", I imagine that they have an even lower opinion of you and I wouldn't blame them in the slightest.

Add to that the only logical course would be adherance to the principles as laid out in the Constitution, the reminders of our country's continuing journey to overcome bans against civil rights and the fact no harm can be given in respect to this liberty of gay marriage being pursued by a group of American citizens and you'll come to the conclusion gay marriage will be in our country's future.

A sad day in America when the will of the people can be thwarted by the whims of activist judges cowering to special interest groups.

Daily Horoscope for May 18

Aquarius

Watch out if you're going shopping, because you'll be tempted to splash out on impulse buys. This doesn't matter so much if you're feeling flush, but it could cause problems if you're supposed to be counting every penny. Whatever the state of your finances, you may buy items you don't need and possibly even won't like when you look at them again tomorrow.
