Does anyone know anything this woman. She spends her day under an umbrella reading with a magnefying glass. Why isnt she in a shelter. Whats her story?
|
||||
She has been there for at least 2 years... she shies away if you approach her.... thats all I know. |

|
She is a bum who is crazy. She needs a one way ticket to San Francisco!

Rico, I'm sure S.F. has their quota. ha. A couple years ago or more, she was at Roseville Square. She just stopped dead in her tracks and looked at me as if she "knew" me. Strange. I just wonder how a woman gets along alone in this day and age being homeless. She may be mental, its still sad...

Someone told my sister, who lives around that area, that the woman actually has a home somewhere along one of the streets off of riverside. That she prefers to live that way.

There may also be a very small group of people who are chronically transient and genuinely have no interest in staying in one place for any period of time. This may be because of a transient lifestyle learnt from their family of origin, as a result of a traumatic event or they may be ‘running’ from family or financial or legal problems.

The other reason people choose to be homeless is it can appear quite interesting and an enjoyable lifestyle. Although actually homelessness is often a stressful experience, to the casual observer, it may not look that stressful. It may look as if people can sit around all day, read books, get a tan, drink a 40 on a park bench while feeding the birds and mixing it with other people. To those who may be heading off to work, paying bills and meeting other mundane obligations, this might look like an inviting lifestyle.

"Parks are a refuge for all of us: a change of pace, a place to relax from our daily burdens, and physical and mental space that evokes memories and stirs imaginations. Whenever we hear that the park as refuge has failed, and the problems of society have followed us into the park, we feel as though a sacred place the place where a deceased person is buried." quote unk
Just keep going to work and never mind her sun tanning... while she's drinking a beer, reading a book your hard at work (actually not) cause your worried about her for what? She's probably a retired chemical engineer and now just wants to relax...leave her alone. |

Bens, who said anything about bothering her? And how relaxing can it be for her or others when a kids' softball game is going on and shes parked close to where a dugout would be. In full view of everyone driving down Douglas Blvd.? I've heard shes a cop, that shes a "he" ...Just asking because it must be frightening and dangerous...would like to help if I can.

THE hours are long and the work monotonous, but begging pays well! Some can earn up to $50,000 a year from good samaritans.
can you believe it... keep going to work to give them your hard earned money you fools! |
||||
|
Edgar, I've never seen her begging...ever. But if begging pays that good, I'm gonna switch professions!

Learn the best bathroom options, where you won't be rushed, turned away or harassed. Find restrooms where it's clean enough to put your stuff down, the stalls are big enough to change in and there's hot water so you can wash up.

Sawyer, she does but not so blatant.

Just seems really sad, thats all....

If you want to help then do it-Contact her and see for yourself. Of course have an officer stand-by with you just in case. Lets face it, people throw money in her tin, bring her food, it's like she is a stray animal. By giving her your old loaf of bread is that helping her? Talk is cheap. Even the church she sleeps at during the night has her sleeping outside on their porch-huh? That's helping her? You mean a church with all it's resources and such still makes her sleep on the ground? Get real people-this will never go away!

Doug, I was just asking out of concern. I've seen her for so long and just kind of wanted to know her story. Its obvious she prefers aloneness. I just wanted to know why she is where she is. Its not that shes a female makes her homelessness anymore tragic. But it has to be scarier. And I'm sure alot of people have tried to help her. I've never seen her beg, but I'm not doubting it one bit. Something tells me, I knew her a long time ago.Does anyone know if her name is Carol? She looks like the gal I knew, but hard totell with dark glasses. The gal I knew had some mental issues and problems with cocaine. She would be about 53 today. Just wanna know.

Her name is Erica and she chooses to live like this. She is very nice but a little untrusting. She has been around here for years, and there are lots of stories about her. I've never seen her beg or anything. Just minds her business.
