I don't know how she got the job she has now either, but I like to think it was because of her qualifications. I am a crusader of women's rights, and if this woman has a chance of being a sheriff, more power to her.

Speaking from experience, it's difficult to do jobs that are considered,"men's work." First, you have to make the men take you seriously, and then you have to prove to them that you can do the job as well as they can. But, the difference is that at the end of the day, you get to go home, cook supper, clean the house, and take care of the kids. They get to go home, eat the supper, enjoy the clean house, and watch TV while relaxing in their favorite chair.

Bitchy comments like this one set womens rights back 5 years every time. Men clean. Men take care of the kids. Men cook. The difference is, men don't have to have something to bitch about to be happy and can go a day without gossip.

The day that Wanda Hartman wins sheriff in Union County will be the day I run naked thru Liberty holding a sign that says "Maybe Wanda isn't a bimbo." Don't count on seeing that sign, it will never happen.

Wanda Hartman for Sheriff would be the last thing that Union County needs. She could have the state put electric out to her new house under the jail renovation plan. She could have more ways to screw the taxpayers.

Please list any recommendations or improvements made made by Eric to improve department efficiency or to lower his budget. Please list any personnel changes or department structure or operational changes that have decresed the budget, improved service or made the department more efficient. Please name any one community service area championed by Eric or any other member of the sheriff's department (Neighborhood Watch - Child Safety - Drug Awareness programs for kids - programs for teenage drivers about cell phone use while driving, anything?). Eric will win if he runs simply because people in this community don't care - he hasn't been in the paper for slamming somebody's leg in the door or being drunk in public or messing around with young women, therefore he is assured of another term. No suprise, history shows this to be true. Way to set the bar voters of Union County.

He gave every child in union county who trick or treated a glow in the dark bracelet. Who knows, maybe that saved a few lives that night. I think Eric is doing a good job.

Sameolsameol. How would you improve the sheriffs budget. The council approves very little for his department. 5 deputies and most of the time only one on duty at a time. Most of their cars have over 100000 miles on them and break down often. The jail is old outdated overcrowded under and poorly staffed. How would you decrease the sheriffs budget when its already a skeleton budget and how would you increase services with no budget to do so with?

The Sheriff Dept and the County Jail receive a large portion of the operating budget in Union County.
With regards to the cars, funds were approved to replace 3 of the vehicles in 2009 and funds were approved to replace another one in 2010.Of those 3 cars 2 were given to the deputies and the sheriff bought an SUV for himself.
If the cars were in such a state of disrepair,why did the sheriff buy a SUV for himself when his vehicle was one of the newest ones in his fleet.
Granted ,the cars purchased were rebuilt, but the deputies do'nt seem to have any problems with them.
As far as breakdowns,repairs have been reduced since the cars were purchased.
Believe me, the money could be put to better use.

So was the budget for 3 new cars and he purchased 3 used cars instead or did they budget for 1 new car and he bought 3 used for the price of one? I don't see why anybody would do option one but if he did option two and the cars are reliable it sounds like the money was put to good use.

Was it good use of taxpayers money for the sheriff to purchase himself a SUV which is not used for daily routine patrols instead of putting 3 crusiers on the road that are used daily?
The car that the sheriff drove was newer than any of the deputies vehicles replaced.This car is now only used by the reserves,transporting people and serving papers.
Also,it was not the sheriff who came up with the idea about purchasing used cars,as much as he would like to take the credit

I still have not read where she is running officially. Where is it? If she is a regular women trying to make it then that is f'ing sad. Sorry u do not have to lie cheat steal and screw your way to the top. Some ppl are just good enough to get to the top without having to act like a trixie. The only good she will do is possibly give the looser guys that can't get any on their own some. OMFG get a life trixie jr.

Wanda couldn't get elected for Dog Catcher in Union County. She's a joke. I personally have nothing against her. Simply put, it's her attitude and personality that turn people off to her. Let's be honest, she thinks her sh*t dont stink...call it like it is.

As far as the current Sheriffs Dept, it's a joke. The deputies do a great job with what they have, dont get me wrong. There's no leadership at all up there. The Sheriff is always 'horseback riding' somewhere out west, and the chief deputy has 'ball practice' 7 days a week and works from 9am-noon. Wow, must be nice. It's basically a 'run yourself' department, and if you've ever talked to the deputies, you already know that. Just listen to the scanner. You never hear Eric or Jeff take a call, or Jeff even come on and off duty because he does it over the phone. Just drive by the jail during the day and look who's vehicles are there the whole day, unless they go to shell.

Besides, isn't the Sheriff supposed to (legally) live IN the county he's elected?? Not the one next to him and claim his families address as his?
