None of the jobs are secure, LOST! The general feeling is that this is only a stay of excution. They need product and thats most likely what we are doing now, getting the supply built up for if and when the industry ever picks. Which would take a act of God and 5,000 acts of congress. Being competitive in the article means ...at least I think: IF the product needs to be closer to the customer then "we" have to flexible enough to get the product closer. And that may mean moving lines .and perhaps finding other jobs, if we don't want to follow where the product goes. So...while it is a relief to have a job still.....Things are far from over.....! The article also said that Tenneco plans on closing 3 plants at the end of 2009........so what now

The smithville plant is starting to slow down here lately. We weren't hit so hard at first because most of our products are toyota, nissan, and honda. The cadiallic and zo6 corvette has not ran for a while.

Thank you Steve. Our whole community and surronding small towns are in a world of hurt, as is the county. Our tenneco plant was the mainstay in many small towns.........it will be hard.

Just wanted to say I am sorry to hear about the closing of our Cozad plant. I say our because we are all employees of Tenneco and this could've easily happened at any of the plants. If any you are considering the move to Paragould, I personally want to let you know that it is a great town with friendly people and our plant would surely benefit from the experience we would gain from you guys. If u have any questions about our town, please post them on here and I will check back and try to answer them or give you contact info of someone who can. My heart truly goes out to your whole community.

What a nice note. Information about transfers and the such are still up in the air. In the beginning we were told that we lose our vacation, wage, and senority and all, but at the last "group" meeting ,HR,was still checking to see if it would indeed be a lateral move instead of a entry move. If this is so what is your starting wage in that plant? What job openings do you have, or are you re-calling workers? If anyone from Hartwell is reading, I might ask you the same question? Thanks again for your kind words, and the help you are offering. Will check this link when I get home at 11:00pm.....

I havent heard for sure either about how you guys would be moved in if you chose to come, I sure hope they would let you keep your seniority, vacation, etc... If not however, our starting pay is at $11.20hr for assemblers. We don't have anyone layed off right now so recall is not an issue and as far as job openings go, several are up in the air right now waiting to see how many people choose to move here from Cozad. Unless several of you come, we will probably be hiring soon. Are u thinking of moving down here?

Hartwell was told that Cozad employees would be offered the opportunity to relocate if they wanted to. I think that our starting pay for assemblers is less than Paragould ($10.40) but I'd have to check. I know that 30 temporary employees start today or at least are suppose to. I also think that some maintenance personel will be hired and should be starting soon.

Are you guys going to get to come here and do the jobs that you do there?Looks like that would be the best way to do it.If the jobs are open here. What all are they moving here? We have been told very little about what is going on.Mostly rumors,I am a machine operator and the pay rate is 15.77.but I don't know what the start out pay is.

I have heard that most of the aftermarket units that are made in Cozad go to Paragould. Two lines are going to Mexico and another line is coming to Hartwell. Not sure about the support equipment that Cozad has. I would guess that the presses at Cozad would also go to Paragould since they still stamp parts.

we only know what we have been told, which is somewhat sketchy. R-line and C-line and t- line are all equipment moves and etc. The pargould engineers have been at the plant since Wed. taking pictures and learning about the operations and running of all three lines lines. The other shortline move is just a paper move , so to speakm and is going to Mexico. Mainline for the most part going to hartwell, but don;t know what machines are moving and all that. I thought only one line was going to Mexico? Who knows it seems it is half of one and a dozen other ideas. The first position cuts are expected in NOvember, with 2 line movements in Dec. These two are subject to change. REally hate to see all this happening. The decisions that everyone is having to make are decisions that we never thought we would have to make.

All communications go wonderfully well today. You manage to say the right thing to the right person at the right time, and to keep off any topics that have the potential to cause upset or embarrassment. Brilliant!
