Well if your going to be in Atlanta today at 9am might want to check out the County Board Meeting and especially if your a Firefighter Ems or Sheriff Department employee as the board is discussing moving the 911 out of the sheriffs department either privatizing or moving it our of the county to Alpena, It is my understanding we all could loose alot from a move like this like all of our local 911 funds would not be available for our local agency's how would you all like that, if your a tax payer in Montmorency County this should bother you alot having dispatchers that know your county like the current ones do and knowing the streets and businesses like they do providing quick smart responses to your 911 calls to me is important not to mention all the equipment 911 pays for will all be gone nice, glad there working for us just another bunch of idiots working on the Montmorency County board thanks

Yeah I agree I think it's a great idea and will provide a faster 911 response when taken out of the crowded setting in the department there. It's a sardine can, and im all out of giant fish to walk with!

I agree, as a former employee of 4yrs there and NOT from there, one thing I noticed right away was the difference in training our dispatchers had and the state police ones had, "big difference" when you're responding to an emergency it's nice to have a state police 911 trained operator on the horn, hopefully if they do move it that's what the citizens will get, a highly trained call center with up to date gps mapping and there should be and always should have been gps on the patrol vehicles I drove. |

I have dealt with the Tribune on numerous occasions since the new owners took over and they are fair.
As long as what you write a letter to the editor that is factual, with proof to back it up, it will probably be printed as they won't just take your word for it.. That is to protect them from slander suits. I have not heard anything about moving the dispatch center out of the county. They are moving it to a new location within the sheriff department building based on state regulations. Dispatchers are not supposed to be visitor greeters, so this will solve that problem and let them focus strictly on dispatching. Once the new 911 director was put in position, things started to get done that were supposed to be done way sooner, as the elected head of the department was not doing his job concerning this matter. |

Now that the dispatchers don't service the front service should be better for 911, that is correct. Now what about the front desk issues such as CPLs? How can we afford having a dispatcher and a front desk clerk now when we could barely afford having only a dispatcher? Sometimes you have to do what you have to do to make ends meet.

If they had any passion this would've been done long ago, but people just due enough to get by to not cause any dislike or unhappiness in the community. When I started there in 2002 the dispatchers had not been entering license plates of arrested drunk drivers like they should've been since it was law 3yrs prior to that. |

Well if they operated like most other depts in the state, they would not have any clerks past 4pm or Officers answering the front desk or window. I had to answer the window many times, right in the middle of doing reports, i.e. felonies/misdemeanors those important little pieces of paper that make an important factor in convictions of criminals. I guess keeping your voting community happy is more important and always will be until things get bad enough. I'll say a prayer for change. |

1 Be carefull what you wish (pray)for. The majority of voters voted for change last November. The jury is still out, but it doesn't look all that rosey. |

The county doesn't seem to be any worst for wear so I assume don's doing a good job

Are you serious?? Your kidding right? |

I think that Don is doing a good job. Especially with all the economic challenges that we're all facing right now. It's all about money. If you have it, you can have all the updated, sophisticated equipment available and fully-staffed shifts. If you don't, you've got to make the best of it. Unfortunately, Montmorency doesn't have an influx of cash. I wish him the best. |
