<quoted text>Amazing how you are so willing to spend OTHER peoples money for them.... you think like a Socialist! So your sure there is a higher and better use for the Fairground property..better that what it's currently being used for. What is that use you have in mind? Any specifics? I'd love to hear your plans and details...based on your expertise and market research of course. C'mon..let's hear it...
Love it, thank you for telling it like it is

Where did I mention spending other people's money?

I've talked to plenty of people around here and they all agreed that it would be a great thing for the area.

Would there need to be major changes to help traffic, of course there would. It would not be terribly hard for that to be solved, right now with only a few times a year it's not worth all the trouble it would cause to build in the extra roads, plus you have people bitching about that, yet the same people complain about traffic.

If you guys want to live in a shit hole town that will not grow then that's fine by me. There is alot of potential in the idea and it was proved Saturday night when 60,000 people sat in the rain for a show.

If done right, traffic would not a non issue, I've went to events in both Roanoke and Richmond and never had a problem, yes they are larger cities and have more ways to access the venue. The same could be done here fairly easily.

As for Socialist, I think you are looking for Obama on that one.

Bring in something like Ozzfest or Mayhemfest & I can bet they will sell all kinds of tickets. People will be coming in from Roanoke & Charleston to attend these events.

How about building the world's tallest building on that property, or maybe a pyramid twice the size the Great Pyramid at Giza. Without a doubt, people would come to see it..it would make a great backdrop for huge concerts! Just think of all the jobs it would create! Construction..new roads, gas stations, hotels, shopping centers, housing for the workers and then all the accommodations for the tourists..why the possibilities are endless!! Now..we just have to convince someone to finance it...:-(

It's clear half of the people here would rather live in a shit hole town with nothing in it the rest of their lives while some of us actually enjoy watching a place grow before our eyes.

The simple fact that more and more people are coming to this area means growth is inevitable. If you don't like it, go somewhere else.

I have lived in this what u call a shithole town for 48years. I havelived in bigger places, like Fort Lauderdale,Fla, Raleigh,NC, Myrtle Beach,SC and Pennsylvinia. All of these places have there big cities but they all have small ones too. Just because lewisburg is not as big as other towns dont mean it cant be as nice as the others. No matter what they do around here to make lewisburg better, you all will still be bitchin about something. You say that the kids can go somewher else to show their animals, just tells me that you think the world revolves around you. well WAKE UP, cause it dont. There are very few ppl who would travel from here to charleston to show there animals because alot of these children would not have transportation or money to do this. Evidently you have never went through the barns to see these children working with their animals.

It's pretty clear you are clueless about it then, there are plenty of people that travel here to show animals, if those people can travel so can ours.

It's hard enough as it is for young people to make it around here, the more jobs the better chance they have at making a living.

I understand what you are saying. And a town does not have to be big to be a nice place with plenty to offer folks. Too much complaining from people who aren't willing to make a positive difference. And agreed, the kids would be limited for travel due to lack of funds for transportation. The fair is a good thing for many reasons.

Quit being selfish. It's time for the fair to move to the center of the state and be a real WV State Fair.

Why does the Fair need to be located in the center of the state to be considered a real WV fair? This is some irrational thinking to me. In addition...look at a map and pinpoint the real center of the state...its not Charleston folks.

P.S. For everyone that keeps saying Charleston should have the fair cuz it would be in the middle of the state... the middle of your state is in Braxton Co., located 4 miles East of Sutton. Now...while most of you are scratching your heads or some other small part of your anatomy, wondering where that is...I will tell you this...Sutton, in no way would it better accomodate the fair.
But it is the middle. Great, super, thanks.

There is free parking at the State Fairgrounds. The stage is at the back of the parking lot. I would suggest you go there several hours before the concert, since traffic is always backed up for several hours, or it was a couple years ago. Actually I know a lot of people plan to tailgate before the concert so they can be there and not have to fight the traffic.Just an FYI, be sure to take your own chair, they only allow small purses and no umbrellas. Those concerts are always good, and there are a lot of people.

I am trying to decide whether or not to buy tickets for my daughter and myself to see Maroon 5 on July 4th. I know we won't have great tickets as it is late. We would be driving 6 hours. I didn't know how big this place is or what "general admission" really meant in terms of seating. Thanks for any help.
