Do you think schools should have uniforms?

I've done that every school day since 1986. I still wear heels everyday. I have a great wardrobe and not too bad of legs for an old gal.

I have kids in school and vote for uniforms. It builds disipline. Being yourself or expressing yourself without displaying it with your cloths is possible. I am tired of hearing they can not be creative with out it. Their minds alone can be creative, some of the clothing worn is a distraction. I see kids who dress a certain way and they are way out of synic with who they really are. It is like playing halloween 365/24/7

Yeah. I think it might be nice to try. The uniforms would allow parents to tell who is going to what school. and I think the kids might be glad to have all the dress decidsions made by others.

I work in Maury County and we are going to a strict dress code with collared shirts and tucked in shirt tails. I am really looking forward to seeing how it works out. My chidren went to priviate school and the dress code never hurt them at all. It would be a good way to start a real change in Marshall County. |

Dress codes are great, but it will not change the attitude of the "Better than thou" children's action of ridicule their fellow classmates. Tucked in shirts??? What if the student is self conscious about their butt or stomach not being hidden by a shirt tail? I agree with Parent...it all starts at home and can be stopped at home. I wonder if the parents of the girls who wear clothes way too tight and shirts way too short realize that it reflects on them as well? I wonder if the parents of the boys who wear pants way too low and their drawers shining with a wife beater and huge fake diamond earring realize that it relfects on them?

I sent my children to private school so they wouldn't be around the exact type of people you are describing. My children were never around rif raff and still aren't. They went to private school, private college and have occupations that don't involve associations with such people. My oldest daughter is an executive with AMEX and my second daughter is an engineer for an airline manufacturer. They never really had any attiude about anyone but never had associations with anyone except people similar to themselves. |

Thank god your children don't have to associate with riff-raff! I bet they enjoy being in their own elite bubbles! It would be horrible if they had to adapt to people other than their "own kind!" |
