i hope everyone is polite with their comments that way mr. branch will reconsider not allowing the seniors to decorate their caps. personally, i dont see were he has the right to do this. i paid for this cap and my son worked hard to graduate. kids have been excited and planning what to put on their caps all year. so, kids, start a petition at school. talk to your class representatives. this is your year, time to start standing up for yourselves!!

at one highschool in mingo county, the art teacher paints all the students caps. It is a tradition at that school for students to have something unique painted on their hats.

All the students at Burch High paint their caps. I think its a great idea. It's something unique about them that stands out. There is nothing wrong with that. They also get to paint a ceiling tile too. It looks really good when you walk in the school and see all the different paintings. I say Go For It!!!!

Personally I think it's the most stupid idea I've ever heard of. Do you see college grads painting their hats? No. Good for Branch and I hope he sticks to it. Yeah parents paid for it, but what the h*ll do you think will happen to that hat and gown? Most get thrown away or shoved in a closet 'cause you ain't going to wear again. "us students" yea it really sounds like you worked your butts off--You don't know what work is yet. lmao

A graduation ceremony is an event where the commencement speaker tells hundreds of students dressed in identical caps and gowns that 'individuality' is the key to success!!

I think as long as they drink their Ensure they can decorate whatever they want. Just don't try to put cards in the wheels of your walkers. You might get hit with a cane if you try to stop them.

No graduation hats dont need to be messed with. You kids should just be happy to be graduating. I know it seems like a big deal to yall but fixing up your hats should be the least of your worries. College should be the only thing your worried about right now. Not hats. I say this because theres no jobs that pay over 7.25 an hour right now unless you go to college. Painting hats would be something that grade school children would want to do not young adults graduating. I wish everybody from tug valley the best of luck and hope you all have bright futures.

It is a common tradition, especially if you are in a sorority or specialized program/student club/honor society. It is a fun, innocent way of expressing oneself. Students in HS should be allowed to do this as well! What a FUN tradition to start at your school!
