White trash

Can you sue a neighbor who will not keep his/her property maintained, and as a result, causes other property values in the neighborhood to decrease? I heard of a couple successfully doing this in the Wilmington area sometime back. I’m wanting to sell my house, which is in a decent neighborhood, but my relator said my property would be harder to sell because of a neighbor who is too lazy to maintain his property.

Yeah tell me about it. I live in lower creek and our neighborhood is getting over ran with trash. The older people have died out and the homes are turning into rental properties. In most cases the white trash on welfare qualify for HUD loans and move into our neighborhood bringing all their trailer park garbage with them. I have a neighbor like this on one side that pays less than a 100 a month to the government for a house payment. On my other side I have neighbors who's family allows them to live their after their grandparents died. They have every type of welfare you can think of. Both sides let their welfare kids run all over the neighborhood and there is trash all in my yard from both sides. I hate welfare trash, they need to stay in their own trash holes or learn how to act.

Oh, I can imagine. The situation with me is not the same. My neighbor is just too lazy to maintain his property. His grass, what grass he has gets about a foot high during the summer. Basically, he has let his property go way down and could care less.

sue him for the amount of decrease in value

When I lived in Atlanta my next door neighbor was trying to sell his house but couldn't because of the house across the street. Their house was lime green with kelly green trimming and their yard was nasty. The next door neighbor was so disperate that he painted the house across the street and landscaped it for them for free.

One of the problems we have, is the better your home looks the higher the taxes.I think this is something that causes run down homes.Maybe we should address the tax situation.People don't want their Taxes to go up for one reason.I know a guy put siding on his home and his taxes just about double.He said, he wish he had left it like it was.As always the Government is always finding way for you to agree to make more laws to take your rights away.Lets pass a law or give the people a reason to fix up their home without taxing the hell out of them.

We just had our roof replaced. I'm not going to report it as "Enhancement" to our home. It was maintaining our home.

Sueing is tricky. The money you spend trying to break even will be more than you'll ever get. The law ALWAYS works aginest you unless you're very rich. You'll have to take a lose like the rest of us. I'm trying to sell my home and it seems like everyone is working to stop me. Granite repalced every stop sign in this part of town but I still have an old crapy one on a rusty post. Yes, I called them a year ago.

If you live in the city of lenoir they have a website you can go on and report anything basically. You can report unkept yards, junk, to street lights out, potholes, signs down, anything like that. They will email you back and keep you advised on the situation and what they did to fix it.

if you have all these homes for rent in Lower creek where are they im looking and im not on welfare..i work everyday!

I can remember when Lenoir was a very nice town with hard working good people. Damn shame what they have now!!!!Not a real safe place to be.

Bashing blacks on here??? You either can’t read very well or you have a problem with racism or you’re just trying to stir up an argument. This thread is not about blacks. If you date a black person, that’s your business. However, I think you trying to make it everyone else’s. The person I’m having an issue with is white. While I agree with you, there is trash in all races. My situation is about a lazy person.

Wouldn't it be funny if we choose our mates by how clean they were? Nothing to do with race or anything else.

Folks, once again, this is NOT about a black person or welfare. My issue is about a LAZY man who is just too sorry to keep his property up. He has made a once nice neighborhood look really bad. Any constructive advice would be appreciated.
