Basics Grille

Has anyone tried the new restaurant on Wilkesboro Blvd near Pendry's Funeral Home? What do they serve and how are the prices and service?

I wasn't sure if it was a restaurant. Hope we get some answers. :)

I think the restaurant is to open monday jan 30. some one told me the menu and prices looked good. we need a new place to eat that is good and resonable. i hope they make it.

A friend of a friend passed me the menu.

I haven't tried it yet, but I did stop by to
pick up a menu. I was hoping for better prices, but maybe the food is extremely good. Waiting for the "reviews." :) The menu says a hamburger basket is $7.95 and a hamburger platter is $8.95, but it doesn't say what's included in either. I don't eat burgers very often, so maybe I'm behind the time, but when did a hamburger get that expensive this side of Disney World?:)

Went by and got a to go menu. Prices are very high considering our area. Plus its name is appropriate - BASIC. Decor - BASIC

I have eaten there twice already and yes the prices seem high, but it's really great food. My feeling is if you want to go to McDonalds or some of those chains on 321 to get cheap same old same old, while doing nothing to help local business then go ahead. Personally I sometimes want to put better food in mouth than that. The burger i got over there was better than anything at Ruby Tuesdays and WAS cheaper than those guys. In fact that's what it is to me...a slightly cheaper version of Ruby Tuesdays food, but much better.

Ate there Wednesday night. My dad got the special which was beef tips. He said it was good. I got the reuben sandwich with fries and it was very good. Price was a little high but the quality of the food and service was very good. I would eat there again. FYI, a basket comes with a side like fries or onion rings. The platter comes with a side and a salad.

No need to jump to conclusions...My thinking that the hamburger price is high doesn't mean that I go to McDonald's or the other chains on 321, nor does it mean that I deny support to local businesses, UNLESS I feel that THEY are taking advantage of the local people. I'm happy to know that you considered your burger worth the 8 bucks.

To IDK, thank you for the clarification on the difference between a basket and a platter.

To Bingo: looks like the owner or someone with a vested interest in the establishment is on board here. ;) We were both judged CLUELESS for stating the truth.:D

The food is fine but the prices are a little too high. I think that will hurt them in the long run.

To the owners of basic grill, I would suggest you stay off the forums and stop putting a cluesless judgments on anyone that says anything about the prices there. It's pretty obvious someone has a vested interest thats on here. If it's you then it really is making your business look bad already.

I would like to point out that it isnt a great idea to open a new business with high price items right off the bat. I think it's great that they offer a better grade of meat and a great burger but that being said, people can only afford so much of that. As for supporting a local business, well Iam all for it when they give me a reason. I will not support a local just because they are local, I want the best deal I can get and then I figure the local part into it after the fact.

I will always buy local when I can but if they are not giving me the best deal they can and expecting me to support them just because then no. Someone said they have food as good as ruby's and Fatz, thats all well and good but they shouldnt try to even compete with them. Ruby's and Fatz have a name, powerfull advertising and a great location.

If they want to make it they need to offer a lower priced menu along with the better one's, get people in the door and when they can afford to splurge they will. Dont just offer your best and say he this is great stuff and great stuff costs more.

If they are trying to attract the upscale crowd, well sorry guys several places already have a lock on them and the upscale crowd isnt going to flock to a hole in the wall next to a funeral home and laundry mat on wilkesboro blvd.

Get mad or whatever just trying to give some advice, take it for what it is.

Good advice. The location makes them especially convenient for me, but in addition to the high prices, the attitude shown here has pretty well clinched it for me. I wish them well, but I'm afraid it will hurt them in the long run, as stated above.
