Does anyone have any information on the incident that happened at CMH Saturday afternoon involving a female patient and a security guard/off duty Lenoir policeman? I heard that the woman had went to the ER and there was some kind of altercation with the officer as she was leaving. A person that was there with a relative said that the security guard hit the woman several times in the face because she refused to sign the discharge form before leaving the hospital. The security guard said that he could "do whatever he wanted to do because he was an off duty policeman for the City of Lenoir." If this is true I think some type of legal action should be taken. Makes you wonder just how this " public servant" acts when he is in other situations.

His name is James Moore. Legal action is being taken and this story should be on the local news soon. We have pictures of the bruises that was put on her. She went to Valdese Hospital for treatment.

Wonder how the hospital and PD will cover this up. He will probably say he was defending himself. The person that was at the hospital when this happened said the woman might weigh 120 lbs and the officer was twice her size. No body deserves to be hit because they refuse to sign a paper. This is violating her rights. I hope she gets a good lawyer and sues everybody involved.

You are absolutely right. We are contacting his supervisor tomorrow. If anyone would like to voice their opinion they can call the hospital and ask to speak to Moto, his supervisor.( I would put the phone number but the site will not let me). He needs to hear from people that seen it, other than the personell that is taking up for the security guard. She was arrested and my husband and I has to get them out of jail. What does this say about the hospital when a person can't go for treatment of chest pains without getting hit by the security officer? What is our society coming too?

Did they even ask her at CMH if she was OK? I hope that this goes nationwide. I remember an incident several months ago where a lady was tazered in the back seat of a patrol car. That lady was picked up for DWI but this lady was at the HOSPITAL ER for medical treatment and gets beat. It ain't safe to even go the hospital in this County. Anything involving Law Enforcement here don't surprise me. I hope he loses his job over this, but there probably be a cover up and this poor women will be made to look like the villian. After all I can see how a 300+ pound man would be afraid of a 120 lb woman.

The tapes were taken for investigation, they said. She was taken to Valdese Hostpital and was treated as she needed to be in the first place. One thing that makes this even worse is Linda takes siezures and could have possibly had a seizure while she was knocked unconcious.

You know it's kinda funny (but not really) you mention the size difference my son when he was 17 years old went to CMH to get stiches in his hand he cut himself when he wrecked his 4 wheeler I was all muddy so I gave him my insurance card which he was covered under and his girlfriend took him while I took a shower as I was driving to the hospital I got a call from her telling me that they wouldn't treat him until I got there I told her no problem i'd be there in about 5 mins.
When i got there this so-called security gaurd was all up in my son's face when I walked in I heard my son tell him my dad will be here in just a min. to which he said well you can wait for him outside and i'm not telling you again. Well to make a long story short he apoligized to my son and me both I don't know if he meant it or he done it out of fear but it's probally the best decision he ever made.

Does he think that because he a cop, off duty or not, that gives him the right to hit a women? If my husband left bruises on me like this woman has he would be arrested. The police department wouldn't let him by with doing something like that to me. They will protect their own no matter what. I want this woman to know that I support her in seeking legal action. If he treats a sick woman this way he probably beats his wife and kids too. Is this what we want as an example of Lenoir's Finest?

Was it the same security guard? Be glad you got there when you did or your son would have probably got beat up too. This is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard of. What kind of people do we have working at CMH? I guess it makes him feel like a man to beat a woman. What upsets me the most is the fact that this women was there because she was having chest pains and didn't get any treatment other than to tell her to see her family doctor on Monday. I would have been upset too if I were in her position.I would have wanted to go to another hospital that would actually try to treat me. What is she had been having a heart attack and died as a result of him hitting so hard she lost consciouness. I guess that would have been her fault, not his.Something needs to be done. A few years ago a women was taken to Caldwell Memorial after a minor auto accident. She was looked at and sent home. She died from internal injuries that were not diagnosed. I don't know what finally happened with that, but I think the family recieved a settlement from the hospital. I won't take a family member of mine there. If I want them to have a chance to survive I would take them any place else.

The tapes will probably get lost or erased. They won't let any evidence against them be made public.

That is what we are afraid of. The lady we are talking about is my mother-in-law. The magistrate will not allow her to take charges out on the officer. She is getting a lawyer tomorrow morning. This will not go unpunished! He will be made to pay for what he done to her.

while this lady was knocked out there were three nurses holding her down for the security guard to handcuff her. she was not drunk or on drugs. she was there to see a doctor. she is a 58 year old widow that has seizures and heart problems. she was upset because the er doctor didn't run any tests to see if she might be having another heart attack and was writing that on the discharge paper when all this started. the security guard told her she couldn't write anything on the form, she could just sign it. i hope that all the people involve in this lose their jobs.

i had an experience with a security guard at cmh a few years ago. he kept trying to grab me by the arms while i was leaving the hospital. i believe this guy had the big head about his "authority' posistion and thought he could do as he pleased. it's probably the same guy.

What reason does the magistrate give for her no taking out papers? Go back to the next mag on duty and see what that one says. Different ones see things differently. Also, sometimes these off duty cops want to be paid "off the record" so you might want to check into that as far as taxes. And remember, a cop, working in their own jurisdiction is not allowed to have any more authority than a security guard when they are working security. Either way, it sounds like abusive force, even if she had gone so far as to attack him first (which if I read correctly she did not). There was not reason for this. All he had authority to do was to restrain her and call the PD.

All they are allowed to do is to detain a person until the local authorities come to access the situation. I was up at the ER one night when a deputy brought a girl in from the jail in handcuffs. He actually walked in front of her down the hall. He seemed not to realize even a small person with handcuffs can reach across someone's head and choke them to death while wearing handcuffs! Where is their training manuals? Do we need a civilian patrol to follow the cops with video cameras to see what they are doing?

Daily Horoscope for January 5

Virgo

You aren't fooling anyone - it's easy for everyone else to see that inexperienced people are unaware of their obligations, Virgo. You're grumpy about starting a familiar process from the beginning again, but don't let that get in the way of getting on with it. Sour grapes have no place in your daily dealings. Although you may 'own' a project, it's ultimately in the hands of someone else. Deal with it and then move on.
