Another way of looking at it is that the county has maintained most of its services without raising taxes despite the lost revenue it has experienced due to the bad economy. Do a google search and see what other North Carolina counties have had to do. Many have substantial layoffs and unpaid leave.

This is lenoir its not what you know but who you know. What about all the trash we buried at cannon paint from aho. They never found that because they didn't dig in the right places. Chris charged ginn tippin fees and hauled it straight to cannon and put it in the hole. He has made money but had a live big lifestyle I don't feel sorry for him. Chris will never go down to many rich friends they make the best liars anyway. Fire them all even the janitors and start over. Make them have held a job under 30000 for at least 10 years. Then they will be for the average worker. Stop electing these rich bastards. We need normal people in their. Oh yea save a tree kill a logger ha ha ha.

How can a current County Commissioner file for Bankruptcy and not resign? King Griffin has control over the media and is probably paying hush money to keep it quite.

I thought the media did a great job in pointing out his issues during the campaign prior to the election. The issue was spelled out very well in the local newspaper. However, the idiots of Caldwell County elected him anyway. I don't feel a bit sorry for what the county got stuck with. It still amazes the voters elected him knowing the history.

Donald Trump may run for president and no one says he should be disqualified because he has been bankrupt. In this economy it is a wonder everyone in the construction industry is not broke. Chris Barlow has done a good job as a commissioner and there is no reason his personal finances should be a reason for him to resign.

By the way I am a strong supporter of the college and the school system. Mr. Griffin is not, espceially of the public schools. I agree now is not the time for a new building project as the state matching funds are not there. However I know Mr.Griffin's religious views on the public schools and where he schooled his kids. Most county kids can't be homeschooled or be sent to private schools. Not funding and supporting local education is a sure ticket to keeping this county perpetually backwards and that is not acceptable. Mr. Griffin and myself are both products of our local school system. Neither of us have done too badly for ourselves. He needs to remember that and we do owe a debt to where we came from, not to cripple the schools. Well the enviromental health needed to be cut back. same for planning. Ben saw the writing on the wall as far as the economy goes. I deal with envir health regularly and the ones up there don't have anything to do. matter of fact one of them just took a month off to travel because they didn't have anything much to do. get your facts straight and come back. as far as the schools go WE DON'T HAVE THE MONEY!!! I WISH WE DID BUT WE DONT

It wasn't the handwriting on the wall. It was the handwriting in the environmental health dept's silt runoff files that was the problem.(You remember the files that went missing immediately following the firings?) Anyway, we don't need no stinking environmental health or educashun in Caldwell. The educashun level already averages well above 7 th grade and the county water aint really a problem if you drink bottled water. curiousofyou wrote: <quoted text> Well the enviromental health needed to be cut back. same for planning.
