Has anyone heard how the little boy is doing? My prayers go out to his family.

Wondering where the parents were when this happened.. I know they said the child was asleep but how does a 3 year old go out the door without anyone noticing? I have 3 kids and my youngest is 16 months and I would definatly notice if they went out the door and down the road! Sounds like some poor parenting here, and it's very unfortunate that the child had to get hurt because of it I could never forgive myself if one of my little ones got hurt because of my neglect. Hoping the child recovers and the parents are throughly investigated. Will be praying for him and the parents maybe they have a good excuse but it's going to be hard to believe.

The news report says the mother told a neighbor yesterday there was a problem with the door. Evidently the mother had no idea he had gotten outside and was in the street yesterday. If this were my child, especially AFTER he had been in the road the day before, I would not have wasted any time in securing that door.

Yeah if I knew the door was not working right that would have been fixed asap and if I couldn't fix it right then I would be extra cautious of that door and find something to secure it until I could get it fixed. If he was in the street the day before common sense should kick in and make the parent more aware of her childs wereabouts asleep or not.

If she was a single mother it can be hard to watch a kid especially one that you think is asleep...but knowing about the problem with the door and not doing anything about it even after the kid had already gotten out once shows a lack of concern for the kids safety. I think after this she will be more aware, shes probally a first time parent too theres a lot to learn when it comes to parenting and I'm sure she has learned a valuable but painful lesson. Praying for them both they will need it to get through this tragedy. Please if anyone hears anything give us updates!

@So Sad, I agree 100% with the last sentence of your comment. Three year old children can open doors. I pray that this child recovers. I also pray that the driver is able to deal with this horrible accident.

I heard the child was pronounced brain dead at 4 this evening and died around 5. If this is so, let your thoughts be with the parents and the person that hit him. They will all need your prayers not your criticism.

I know how bad it sounds that the kid went out the door, but I was in a motel one time and my 3 year old pulled a chair up to the door and undid the chain latch and 2 dead bolts, he took his dog and went to the motel playground. It was about 7 or 8 in the morning and the maids banged on the door to wake me to come and get him. I was not passed out or a bad mother. He was and still is a seriously clever guy. After the incident I did take extreme measures to make sure it never happened again but sometime with young parents, you can't fathom that a kid that age can reason like that. The only thing that does stick out as a red flag is why was he awake at that hour?

Sometimes an event like this happens, and it makes you think, "why do I complain about the insignificant issues in life that really mean nothing"?
I can't imagine what these parents are going through. God gave your son grace to face death....I pray He gives you grace to live.

I was in the area this morning around 7, and was wondering what the PD was investigating. This is so unfortunate.

If it had been me, and I knew that my son had gotten out of the house the morning before, not only would my son be warned about leaving the house alone(not that it would've done any good for a 3 year old), but I would've fixed my door that day.

I'm thinking they will probably be charged with child neglect, and I think that it pretty much serves them right. My thoughts and prayers go out to them tonight. I couldn't imagine, and wouldn't want too. I could never forgive myself.

Devastating news my prayers go out to all involved..my kids are my life I guess thats why I get so upset when I hear about something like this, kids will be kids and sometimes these things are unavoidable. It's sad when a child dies so young, it's a sadness I hope I never have to experience. Again my thoughts and prayers go out to the parents and the driver.

Psalm 139:16 (English Standard Version)

Your eyes saw my unformed substance; in your book were written, every one of them, the days that were formed for me, when as yet there was none of them.

Read it carefully, several times. If you still can’t figure it out, read it until you do.

To a reasonable/logical person this bible verse states that your god has planned every day of your life,(and death) in advance, and there is nothing you can do to change it. Your god has already determined if your straight, or gay. Successful, or a loser. If and who you will marry. If you will reproduce.

So our question is, why do you pray? Makes no sense! Your god has already determined everyday of your life. According to Psalm 139:16, their isn’t anything you can do about it…

That is a direct contradiction to what is in your bible.
