It appears that Google may be getting ready to build their own housing compound for their top management. It would be a shame if they had to live in low end communities such as Cedar Rock .

Too many people are poorly informed when it comes to Google's presence in Lenoir. The incentives were to put us on a level playing field with the competition, not payments out of city-county funds. The folks involved with the land deals did not profit. I cannot confirm that the lawyers did not cash in, but the benefits will certainly out weigh the negatives. I am proud of Caldwell County's past, present, and future.

Such a big deal being made out of a mere 200-250 jobs. At least 80% of which won't go to Caldwell natives. Also, people really don't realize that Google in Lenoir is such a data center (glorified warehouse). People actually think Google will be manufacturing products inside their walls. A person just ask me last week, "What are they makin' at Google?" It's just a fancy warehouse for big computers with little economic impact and no spin off industries. Wake up, people.

You are correct about the glorified warehouse part, its a Data Center or "Server Farm" the advantage in locating in this spot was the large power grid needed to run hundreds of racks of computers, no need for much human activity,(ie-JOBS) look at tiny parking lot, that will tell you the size of the workforce.

Find out how much Green Technology they are going to use, Solar Panels? Local materials? Clean ventilation techniques? I looked at the website and they tout alot of wonderful things there, I hope they will use these large assets with those technologies here. They ARE going to build this place, lets hope its a state of the art GREEN Building, that will bring income to this town, and set a new standard for local builders! If we are proactive we can make this a positve for local business and Schools.

Some of the benefits that I can think of: 1) puts Lenoir "back on the map"; 2) stirs up interest that could lead to other investment/job creation; 3)at the very least (most skeptical approach), puts money into the local economy during construction; 4) lots of people think that all the hires will be from out of town..outside of the "top dogs" I would not be suprised if they had quite a few locals working for them..they're not performing brain sugery, they're doing something that can be trained for at CCC&TI

Yes, you are exactly right. Why can't the rest of the people understand what the Google data center is really about? Every tech and economy expert has said that the Google data center will have very little economic imnpact. Our county commissioners didn't understand. The voters showed how they felt about the Google incentives and tax increase. Goodbye Faye and Thuss.

Question wrote: I would like to know which real estate company and what realtor is handling the Google deal in Lenoir if anyone has that information? This might be too late but Caldwell EDC Properties LLC was formed to purchase and assemble the property needed for google. The LLC was made up of John Howard, Allen Stewart, Bill Stone (all from the EDC) and Rhett Weiss (Google). Caldwell EDC Properties then sold to Tapaha Dynamics LLC (Google). I don't believe the transactions were brokered in a traditional sense. That might not answer your question but I didn't take the time to read the thread because somebody got off on a meaningless tangent :)
