Well if the company that is suppose to be coming reads all of this I m sure they might think twice.See the Mayor & city council along with the County Commisioners & the EDC have all signed a agreement not to discuss what will be coming to Lenoir. It was stated by a politician in Raliegh that it was Google, because his county is also competeing for them,Google. But if I were wanting to have a new company come to my town and I was told to be quiet about it I would ,so quit asking questions. By the way the company asked I repeat asked for the Mayor,Sanders and the EDC's help with the purchase of the property and no one is making a profit except the homeowners. And how do I know all of this, it not no ones damn business on how I know! SO SHUT UP,SIT BACK & WAIT and in time when they make an announcement you will know the TRUTH!

Secrets or lies

So now it will be our fault if Google does not come to Caldwell County? That is a pile of bullsh**...Either they are coming here or they are not...If it was such a secret and no one was supposed to know, then why was it in the newspaper, Smartstuff????? Sounds like another publicity stunt to me... By the way it is Raleigh.[you do not know how to spell either.

I guess it's ok no matter how ill gotten it is! Right. Remember, easy come, easy go.

you are not helping wrote: I dont want to get into the details of what i know....but the "3 govt officials" could have been State officials and not Local. And again, I would think that the reason that an outside Real Estate company was not used was for matters of confidentiality.....you dont need too many people knowing what is going on. Barlow and Sanders were not the only "govt" folks involved in the real estate options But are they the only govt. officials involved that are in real estate? Points to ponder, How much was the land purchased for? I heard 7 million. How much commisssion is made off of 7 million or however much it was officially purchased for?

|
common sense

Here is an example: If the rate is 5%, it would amount to $350,000 thousand dollars on 7 million. Who gets that money?????

the Property was purchased/optioned was valued at 5.7 million, that was in the Lenoir News Topic. My understandind is that folks are getting fair market value for thier property and even getting to keep thier homes, they just have to move them at thier own expense. THERE IS NO COMMISSION BEING MADE off the sale of this propert, quit trying to cloud facts with conjecture.

I do not believe this is being done without commission and neither does anyone else Tim. If the real estate commissioners can keep you out of a job, cause you to lose your property, then buy it a depressed price and resale it to rich floridians and yankees, they make a big profit and commission. So everyone, just vote these republicans back in office so that their policies can hurt most the ones who voted for their sorry fat butts in the first place. you are not helping wrote: the Property was purchased/optioned was valued at 5.7 million, that was in the Lenoir News Topic. It is apparent that you fine folks have your minds made up as to what has occured in this situation. I refuse to argue this anymore as it's not worth my time, and I may end up divulging information that I shouldnt. BTW, whoever called me "Tim" I assume you are referring to Mr. Sanders, and well it would be difficult for me to be him since i have been a lifelong registered Democrat.

If you know what's going on then it's only a secret for the elect few to know because that's what they want. There are laws that govern public need to know and interest. I would hope that those in charge would do what is right and let the people know what's going on.

Also, who governs them above the board or whatever form of control they use?

They will be replaced on July 1 by Jim Green of the Granite Falls Town Council, Bob Keen of Keen's Auto Body and Repair and Ed Pritchard of Triplett's Furniture Fashions. Each of the new members was appointed to three-year terms, and current member Ann Smith was re-appointed for the remainder of her term through June 30, 2007.

The Caldwell County Commissioners approved the transfer of the Economic Development Commission's (EDC) administrative functions to the commissioners. The transfer will become effective July 1. By accepting the responsibility, the board was required to take official action to create three new job slots: Two to be county employees under the current personnel ordinance and one director position to serve at will to the Caldwell County Board of Commissioners.

How does the process work when the EDC finds land and sells it to a business or investor? Do they buy it and then turn around and sell it for a profit or do they take bids from realty companies or what? I'm just wondering how the process works and where does the buck stop?
