Give me facts about Matt B. other than just saying that he is a liar. When one points their finger over and over about nothing other than words, it just looks tacky. I have never had Matt to lie to me about anything. The city votes for change or not. I don't know his family, but what do you mean about "positions are not handed down from their family"? I know a lot of people that love this community(me included) but are not qualified(or care to try) to be Mayor of this town. Show me substance so I am in the know and can vote accordingly.

Turn on the tv and watch a council meeting especially if there is something controversial. That is all you need to do. Actions do speak bigger than words, and this would be a prime example. If you pay property tax in the city, you will find out again when the tax notices come out and your property tax has doubled or more. I know alot of this money is wasted on stupid expenditures. It will happen when the payment on about $15,000,000 comes around. I know he has dollar signs in his eyes as he watches Hwy 321, which is all expectant, but when the economy goes haywire and the public has to cut back on their personal spending, then there goes the goal mine. How do we pay back the debt when there is no money in the bank? I am not trying to convince you to vote for or against Matt. That is your choice and your business, but I have an opinion concerning this little feller and I am voting in hopes that he will hit the door in November 2008.

Before you chastise me about the difference in the goal mine or the gold mine, I do know the difference and I apologize. My brain wasn't with me this morning. Thank you!

Again, Devilbliss you could see why I got you confused with the Cook lady, very easily. You are both busy bodies, ignorant, manipulative and liars! CHOW FOREVER YOU PARASITES!!!!!!!! Why does everyone who wants to blast someone bring Christianity into the argument? I have not read one thing on this blog to top the ugly words coming from your keyboard. If you call that Christian I would be careful if I were you. You may be very surprised where you end up on judgement day.

Sorry, But I can take anything you could possible dish out. Your lame, uneducated, Beavis and Butthead remarks don't scare me at all! No, I am not one of Mr. Brookshire's student. Unfortunately, I was not so blessed to have a great teacher, such as him, in my public school upbringing.

Maybe the biggest city you people have ever been to is Knoxville. You live in a rinky dink city, and it is people like you that are the "good old boys". If you are so unhappy with your little town then do something about it! Your blog entries will not get you far, fellows. But then again, maybe this is the most excitement that you guys will ever have!! Sounds like Clarity knows what they are talking about!!! Thanks for joining me in putting some reasoning into this blog!

Don't take our word for anything- attend a few city council meetings and see for yourself how he treats people- especially those who do not agree with him. As for family and friends you must not be from here if you don't know the answer to that one.

Check to see how many relatives of Brookshire and the city councilmen work for either the city or LCUB. While you're doing that, see how many relatives of Arp work for the county government now. While you're at it, find out how much those local government's payrolls have BALLOONED while they've been in office. When you have a relative you want to hire and no current openings exist, the solution is simply to CREATE a new opening.(After all, it's other people's money you're spending.) Example: When the mayor's father-in-law got the job of LCUB General Manager, he became the first GM in the utility's history to need an Assistant GM to help him run it. Several weeks later city attorney M. Shannon Littleton got the Assistant GM job - effectively doubling his salary.(Ask the mayor what Littleton's qualifications are to run, or help run, a utility - other than being his childhood friend. mbrookshire@lenoircitygov.com ) When GM Nelson takes Wednesdays off to go play golf, does Assistant GM Littleton stay and run the utility in his absence? NO, he actually goes golfing with him! Would Brookshire spend his own money the way he spends yours/ours?

No. The mayor, Brookshire, doesn't make that kind of money being a school teacher. Of course from what I heard, he was given a big bunch of money to run against Charles Eblen in his first mayor election. It didn't take all of that cash for his campaign, so I imagine he spent the balance of it on a few personal items. That's gossip but it could be true because he bought a bigger house right after that election. I also hear that when his daddy-in-law retires, he will take over as the manager of the utility unless they elect some other councilmen that won't allow it. I think the whole bunch down there needs to be thrown out for letting Brookshire rape the city charter and spending money they do not have on silly stuff. He has a swimming pool cover they spent about $175,000 on they can not even use because they did not put the right things into the swimming pool concrete to install it. It is useless and just sitting there. The mayor has planted flowers and torn down houses that cost the city thousands. He spent too much money on property and recreation in order for the city to ever get anything out of it but a budget buster. The only thing I can give the mayor credit for is the walk park extension. A lot of citizens enjoy that but he did spend too much money on that, also. All of his expenditures were not helped with a grant but the city's general fund bank account. The biggest waste of the city's funds has been the hiring of Dale Hurst. He is the biggest farce the city has ever spent a dime on as well as the city attorney, Shannon Littleton. They have no more management skills than Bo Bo the clown. As a matter of fact, I think the clown probably has more friends and gets along with people better. Thank you for providing a place to vent. I will be back again to voice my opinions. This is the first time I have visited your blog and I throughly enjoy it.

I believe you're talking about a developer that wanted Eblen out, and wrote Matt a check for $25,000 to run? Is that what you're referring to?

That is what I heard. He comes on here and post but too chicken ---- to tell us who he really is. As a public official, he should tell who he is when he sends his little messages. Whats a matter Matt, you scared to make somebody mad? I don't believe Shannon and Terry will beat you up too bad. Terry has his best buddy running against you now. Didn't that make the old blood boil after all you did for him?

Keep on puking buddy!! I'm sure Matt's not a big fan of yours, but don't give yourself too much credit! You are on more then his poop list!! You've got more people then you know that disagree with your poor reporting skills. I'd really watching and thinking about your actions, the GOOD LORD does work in funny ways. Seems to me what goes around comes around, I've seen it too many times. You are messing on some dangerous territory when you are effecting other peoples personal lives. I'd say a good prayer tonight and ask God to direct you in the right way. I will pray for you also.

David, I saw that your book is the Bible. Who exactly are you trying to fool? I think I would read it again. Christians are really not supposed to slander one another such as you have.

Did I say Matt was Lissa? You know a lot about city hall and the meetings there. Most people don't know or care when that bunch gets together down there. We know when they do, they are just throwing away more money or they are thinking up ways to mess over the public to suit themselves. They are a self-serving lot, that mayor and city council of Lenoir City, Tennessee

Lissa: There is nothing un-Christian about a robust mistrust of government. On the contrary, "Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves." Matthew 10:16 Now, if anyone posting here harbors a hatred for Mayor Brookshire, or has (or plans) to harm him in some way, then your complaint would be valid. Apart from those though - I don't see how a robust criticism of any elected officer is a bad thing. Its the stuff democracies are made of which is why the right to do so (assemble, speak, write) are so deeply enshrined in our constitution. An elected official who takes that robust (sometimes even unfair) criticism personally is on the wrong line of work. If you want to be liked, get a Golden Retriever. Don't run for elected office. Its just the nature of the beast.
