Another fine example of the police "opening fire on black people" and asking questions later......this would not have happened anyway near the westside or beyond...they would have stopped and questioned the occupants first...these oficers should be fired, and I hope they get good lawyers to sue the "pants" off the officers and the city...everytime they have to make a payment, let them remember the people and maybe they'll "STOP AND THINK" before FIRING!!!!!

Unfortunately, you'll have to let the investigation proceed while the ones involved are on paid leave. Saying that, the officers will be cleared. Fifty shots or, a few shots doesn't matter. They will be cleared.

Wow! talk about shooting with your eyes closed! Those officers who shot were a bunch of barnies. Hopefully they wont be in service for the public again!

if i would ran up to a car and open fire i would be under the jail charge with "Murder". now watch if the officers are charged they will be over charged, they will hit them with murder charges instead of "reckless indangerment"or "manslaughter" which seems to be the case here. the reason for the over charge is for the simple fact these or cases that the D.A`s are suppose to loose ,they work to close with the police so don`t be surprised with it`s a not guilty verdict!!!!!!!!!! it`s a big shell game people!

The police need to stop being so paranoid. Not every group of black boys are gang members or carry guns. They need to think before they shoot. I bet these were rookies.

Ask ANY California cop why a regular citizen can't obtain a permit to carry a concealed firearm and they will tell you that ordinary citizens just can't be trusted with such an awesome responsibility. Nevermind that permissive CCW systems have an enviable record everywhere they're adopted. Unfortunately, citizens often fall prey to the miscreants that cops repel with their own off-duty guns. This happened not far away and at about the same time, when an off duty sheriff shot & killed a would-be carjacker in East L.A.- We go to great lengths to pretend we are an egalitarian society, but cops are an unaccountable, privileged class who consider their fellow civilians too stupid to defend themselves. But hey, if disarming their fellow citizens makes the cops feel good, who are we to complain?

Innocent Jamiel Shaw II was killed by a hispanic illegal alien gang member because he was black, although for political reasons some are trying to make it look like he was a gang member. Where are the black community leaders and politicians now? Why are they silent? Why aren't they standing by the Shaw family? Why aren't more people in the black community outraged about this? Only if the perpetrator is a white person or police officer, is there a show of concern?

Wow, we are living in frightening times. This is another issue of a travesty to another family. There is no reason that police (some) are fearful before they begin to investigate what is going on before opening fire on innocent people. I know that their policy is to protect and serve, but before any other gun play starts someone could have investigated first. My prayer is that God continues to bless our civil servants and protect them as well while they are on duty. I pray for families to be protected as well.

I think the police did the right thing. I mean, what were those boys thinking going out for a hamburger at that hour? The police put their lives on the line every day, and the lives of regular civilians. Sure they kill more than they protect, but that's the price we have to pay to keep our children (the ones not killed by the police) safe. It's only natural that they should fire blindly at civilians every time a firecracker goes off. I'm sure the rest of the police will exonerate them. It's not like a cop ever goes to prison for this kind of thing.

The people will go after such people like this. The cops will one day be very, and I mean VERY sorry they ever screwed wtih society when society starts opening fire on them for no reason because they feel threatened.

In Kanada this happens all the time - we doon't have the giant standing armies of you guys but spend 6X your average on cops. Our cops have NEVER - EVER been sent to prison for even the most blatant misuse of force. At least you guys put some of the offenders away.

The police are way out of control in this nation. One guy sued a police dept because they would not hire him. The reason? he scored to high on the IQ test (must have been above 60)
They feel they have license to torture human beings with tasers for no other reason than they mouthed off. they murder without repercussions. many are lowly killers. rougue human beings that could not function in society without that badge.
People need to strike back. If one abuses a human being, they should be caught off guard and tasered the piss out of.
just my opinion

It's not like a cop ever goes to prison for this kind of thing. I have to agree. It was 1:40 am and these "kids" were out? Wow, where were the parents? Where was the control? I do have a problem with those inexperienced officers that took it upon themselves to just jump out and open fire without first figuring out exactly what was going on. And why are these young officers pulling night duty - the most dangerous shift? Obviously something was going on if there were reports of gunfire just before the police arriving, no one seems to dispute that. Maybe the PO PO got scared and they instinctively just opened fire. Now we know they aren't cut out for the job. I hardly think this is racially motivated, it was dark out and the officers shot into a vehicle without knowing who or what was in there. Why's everyone got to pull that race card? Funny the whites never do that when they are shot. Oh no, that would be racism! Double standards.

Oops, I guess they weren't "kids"... one was 19 years old. But still, 1:40am? Who goes out for food at that time? Sounds like trouble to me.

I have to agree with Mike's posting. What are these kids doing out so late. Just yesterday in church our pastor preached to all us parents how we all need to protect our kids, and stay invold with them, make sure you know where your kids are, who there friends are.. and so on... We parents need to take responsibility for our children and there actions! We need to stop blaming everyone else for what happens to them. Wake up all you parents out there, and pay attention to what your kids our doing. These kids our the next generation!!
